It was 50k not a 100k according to bitcoinwisdom charts. With BTC's recent rise, actual XMR price in USD is pretty steady, despite the 100k dump in the video.
OK, Sherlock, but he had 100k and he soldit in two 50k chunks in the video here: https://vid.me/ima7Maybe he canceled the second one. Awesome post, G2M.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

It seems like, if anything, this video shows the surprising amount of liquidity in this market. I cant believe someone was able to dump 20,000 dollars worth of XMR in a single instant and only swing the price by 6.6%.

It works both ways. You could buy 1% of the total emission right now, on a single exchange, and move the price maybe 10%. Try doing that with AAPL shares or JPY.

Liquidity of XMR is terrible compared to BTC which is terrible compared to JPY, but XMR is quite liquid compared to most small cryptocurrency projects.

Buying 1% of XMR can be accomplished in a week without moving the price more than 5-10%, even less if you are lucky. Try the same with gold Or physical silver, buy 200,000,000 oz without moving the price!

We try to fit it into three words. Secure. Private. Untraceable.
In reality, it's tens of thousands of lines of code.
It's tens of thousands of posts, all part of a recent living past.
It's thousands of people, each an individual beating heart.
All sitting down mashing buttons on a keyboard.
And it's so much more than that.
[snip snip]
Much more than mashing the keyboard Thank you for being here.

Is this true? The following is what you get when you go to that pool................................... This pool is closed, not enough miners who are dumb enough to concentrate hashrate on 2 or 3 big pools. Too stupid and too bad. I would like to thank all the miners who supported this pool so far, i can count them on my left handAlso.... http://forkguard.com/

Yea, seems that coolmining node is not working anymore. I will do at least a minor update in the next few days so that it uses moneroclub by default (and add fluffypony's awesome new logo).

I sent an email to the Tails developers, on the news they are including Bitcoin in the distro, I ask them to give a look at Monero since its the best crypto for privacy, I have not thought before that it was really a problem but we do need an official repo for Monero someday: the only way to add a software in Tails is to make sure there is an official debian package, well maintened, and it doesn't seems to be the case for monero...
cheers. Electrum isn't a Debian package and is just a simple Python package afaik. Does Monero have a very lightweight web wallet that can be generated with a deterministic seed only. Until such a time it won't fit within the minimal TAILS distro. The whole TAILS ISO is only 951.8 MB in size. And needs to be able to run completely from permanente media like DVD-R's.

Yea, seems that coolmining node is not working anymore. I will do at least a minor update in the next few days so that it uses moneroclub by default (and add fluffypony's awesome new logo). Yeah i was the runner of coolmining.club pool which had also an open node on which jwinterm relied for his lightweight wallet. Sadly i had to giveup the server costing me 86euros/months since long time, as far as pool only earns me 7 moneros so far during all the up time. I have other servers, for other business, so i will try to setup an opennode for prod and an opennode for testnet on those servers, but a bit of work is needed to prepare the compilation environment on those as far as they are in production status, and i would not like to impact much their current activity. So far so good; thanks for all the fish and let's have a beer at the last restaurant before the end of universe
