A great 'killer' Monero app would be a centralized web wallet/mobile app that allows you to send XMR to any email address or phone number, whether they have a wallet setup or not. The recipient would get a notification that they received a payment, and can simply login from that device or email to claim it. Easy peasy.

It's basically a cryptocurrency version of Paypal/Venmo. Centralized, yes, but a dead easy way for people to get their feet wet and send some XMR to friends who wouldn't otherwise be inclined to learn about it. I don't know a lot of people who would turn down money, even if it's the magical internet type.

A centralized service that will know all users` IPs and emails.  What a nice solution for an anonymous coin!  Grin

That would be as shit as mymonero web wallet where users loose their coins for unknown reasons and the service runner - Ricardo Spagni - knows your IPs  Grin

Monero is for the demented, never bet on them, this crypto will near zero, and stay there, I say it to Marco Streng, bet on mine.

Your coin must not be very good if you have to pay exchanges to list it.

Your reading comprehension must be very bad. Nowhere on that twitter link i can see ANY mention of someone paying/bribing sth?

We need a DECENTRALIZED killer app based on Monero, which can help Monero has a better adoption in the whole world. It is cheaper than bitcoin, so that we can get more attention in altcoin markets. Centralized is bad for our privacy and will disclose the information to FBI.  Grin

No, we need an app that will attract regular people outside of the "crypto" community, not one that forces them to care about things they otherwise wouldn't.

Monero is just money. Every business or person who wants to use it shouldn't have to do so in a super private or decentralized manner. There's no point in having money if only techies can use it.

I`d like to thx for releasing gui-beta wallet which burned my 10xmr instead of sending 7xmr to poloniex
Thank you very much!  Angry
According to this http://chainradar.com/xmr/transaction/54054f74d081d4dd8810dc01b4a0e0a452f751103469a11d3100b88611f36e52
5 + 5 =10 xmr spent
according to gui-wallet - only 7 xmr spent

I'd be happy to give a few pointers if you ask a bit more politely.

Edit: OK, not that impolite compared to some, so here goes:

This is a rct tx, so the amounts are not visible. I assume you looked at the inputs in your wallet to determine they were 5 and 5 monero, respectively. Monero picks N inputs, totally at least what you want to send plus the fee, and will return the extra as change. Change will be locked for 10 blocks. So if you wanted to send 7, and used 5+5 inputs, you'll get 2.9xxx as change (3, minus the tx fee).

If you sent to Polo and they did not receive it, maybe you did not put your payment id in. In that case, Polo still has the coins, but they don't know who to credit them to, since you didn't tell them by way of that payment id.

Be more precise about what you did, and what happened. Reading the above, I get the impression that the payment id was more sent, and not sent. Make sure you check the payment id is 64 characters (ie, not left a character out, etc).

about 4 hours last block

On your local node ?
I doubt it's the case on the network, as blocks seem to be found just fine right now, and a 4 hour lapse seems unlikely. If it's on your node, try two commands in monerod:

"print_cn" and see if you have any connections. If you don't have any, exit monerod, delete p2pstate.bin, and restart monerod.

"set_log 1" and see if you get error messages when adding blocks

Was nice to see a good increase in XMR/BTC price today - same with ETH over the last couple of days. Didn't notice any change in the fundamentals yet - will be interesting to see where the price changes lead to.

There's a speculation thread dude. Please use it. Everyone loves talking price in there!

Sorry about that, I thought I was in the speculation thread =) I was wondering why there was no speculation on here. LOL
hahahahahahah...very funny statement of you ...i think it is too better to work with yourself instead of raising point at others...

That moneypacket thing...
I thought emails go in cleartext... so putting the password in the same email that has the moneypacket attachment would be dangerous.  The sender needs to use a second communications channel to transmit the password.

What about mining difficulty?
Ive seen that XMR mining difficulty has been raising considerably over time.
What will happen when CPUs are not enough to mine it anymore? Will XMR fall down because of the big amount of cpu miners that wont be able to mine anymore?
How long this would take to happen and is there any possibility of gpus not being able to mine xmr in future?
If it raises its price a lot, will it become asic only?
Thnx

Moneypacket is interesting, but I agree passwords in clear text is not such a good idea. What I suggested requires control of the email account. If I send 1 XMR to abc123@hotmail.com, the receiver would get an email saying he received a payment, and to log into his account (or create one) with that email verified. Obviously within the system you'd be able to link multiple email accounts or phone numbers that belong to you.

Once again why Zcash unknown ammount of coins is a bad idea (design).

Zcoin was attacked due to bug in code and 370k coins were created and sold for about $500k.
Similar bug in Zcash would go unnoticed due to imposibility to check total amount of coins in existence.
