I Never really understood why Monero has such high MCAP.  There are many better projects out there

It's simple really. There is no other project out there that delivers fungibility. Fungibility is arguably necessary for a functional currency. Also it is the only project that delivers privacy if that is something that you need. Well Monero and it's forks and I think you can imagine why it's forks would be taken less seriously. Also bytecoin that it was forked from but bytecoin is really scammy.

If all one was to do was read every projects marketing wank than one would come to the conclusion that there are a dozen projects out there that offer privacy but the other ones also have all these cool and interesting features that monero doesn't have. The reason monero is so capitalized is because all of that marketing wank is just lies while monero doesn't have cool and interesting features it actually does deliver on privacy and fungibility.

Yeap, agree with you that it is time for investors who have available USDT or Bitcoin to start buying top altcoins and other good altcoins.
Most of altcoins have fallen to bottom (one-year bottom) due to strong correlations with bitcoin, which has witness considerable corrections.

If a pool wanted to manipulate the price of XMR, if they dumped their ASICS coins they would convert them to XMR pumping the price higher. To dump the price the opposite must happen (convert XMR to shitcoins)It would make it easier for markets to redeem for Bitcoins. I suppose that's a large benefit. It might make contracts easier too.

You can not ban a decentralized currency.  Bitcoin was banned several times.  But you can easily imprison all Masternode owners that mix coins that was involved in criminal activity.
Bitcoin was banned many times, really?
I have not heard about Bitcoin bans.
Can you give me original articles on these bans, please.

Google china bans bitcoin, I think I heard that before. Tongue

Neat tweet about new paper from Jameson Loop:

Tried to read, turned into work, gave up. Tongue

Russia bans bitcoin --> searchengine  Grin
The Ayatollah issued a fatwa banning bitcoin, monero and a bunch of other cryptos.
Actually, I just made that up.
But if he didn't, he shoulda.   Cheesy

XMR price has bounced off the bottom a bit. Nice to see =)

I am trying to determine if I should keep mining it or change my CPU resources to something else.

I am trying to determine if I should keep mining it or change my CPU resources to something else.

Mining is not profitable for small participants on the long time perspective. It was discussed a lot since 2010-2011 when GPU mining was actual for Bitcoin. Furthermore, you see this spring/summer 2018 is poor and unstable in crypto price terms. Altcoins tend to dim much more, while Bitcoin itself dims a lot. Also note, when Monero price was dumped from $210 to $120, network hashrate did not change at all (now it even increases slowly in time frames of weeks or so).

From the other hand, the experienced crypto-traders can take stable profit in the virtually all the price variations. For example, if the price of a coin given decreases, but not monotonically, the experienced trader does take profit.

So I recommend to switch to trading activities and not only trading: for example, to learn/train the people who want to trade itself is profitable; to produce trade/news signals in a paid group is profitable; etc.

...Or you can get deeper into programming skills and help Monero community to write new code or to test existing apps. There are corresponding money bounties too.

So, there exist many interesting activities that have much more stable and solid profit than mining.

Don't be aware of what to tell you smooth. Yes, the scenario is now not ideal, however tonight we're at 315k on the network..........

There will be no merged mining of this chain. two We can deal with the adjusting subsidy at a later time by means of hardfork if necessary. two For now, the distribution is properly distinct and anyone can make their desire appropriately. One minute blocks yield excessive orphan rates, however we can later combine GHOST if problems surrounding centralization arise. It's no longer the cease of the world
