60+ inches. Florida destination.
I like that 70in Vizio at Wal Mart, but it's a bit much to spend on a TV...
Used is OK as long as it's not super old and screwed up.
Yes, I said LED backlit LCD TV. No plasma.

New ones are still being made. Blacker blacks. Plus, I did mention used, and I wanted to be sure I was clear that I don't want plasma in that case.

Darker blacks, lower price, faster refresh rate, less glare. I actually own a brand new backlit LED, but there are definitely advantages to plasma. Especially if you are a gamer. However, if you are watching a movie in the dark, want the thinnest TV possible, or care about electricity usage, you won't be able to beat a LED.

Plus, plasma can burn and it'll probably have a lot of static imagery... I watch TV mostly int he dark. There are windows in the room, but during the time of day when the Sun is up, I'm not sitting in front of the TV. I don't own any console gaming platforms, but my son might want to stick his PS4 on it when he sees a 70inch screen on the wall...

I was looking at those myself, but 60 is just a smidge too small for this wall/room/seating. I looked at the 65 inchers and the price was higher than the 70... I'll probably take one of those open box 70in Vizios if nobody talks me into a projector. My last TV was a 13in CRT, so I'm sure the Vizio isn't the awesomest, but it's a huge improvement for me! IT's a bit of a stretch for my budget, but I probably won't buy a TV again for another 15 years, so going a little over budget won't be too much of a waste. Something I can DLNA and YouTube with will do me fine. Not a NetFlix guy.

Just a heads up, that Vizio will not last you 10-15 years. It will most likely die out within 3-4, and before it dies out, you will experience dead pixels and at least 1 RMA. Vizio doesn't really make any TVs themselves, everything is outsourced to other companies in China and Mexico. Their customer support has also been receiving a lot of complaints lately.
I would suggest looking at other brands, unless your mind is made up - even if you have to come down in size.
You dont want a projector for everyday viewing. You will spend a fortune in bulbs and maintenance kits.

Thanks for the input. I've considered other brands in the 65in. Just not seeing what I want... I realize Vizio isn't tops. Smaller than 65in will be oddball small in this room. If I could find a 65in Samsung LED under 1K, I would totally buy it... But so would you if you found it. ;-) The "keep my money" option is highest on my list right now. I'd like one, but since no one is selling what I want to buy, I'll probably just skip it unless someone shows up with a used TV they want to part with. I would only use it to watch torrents and youtube. No satellite/cable/broadcast TV for me. Maybe some PS4 for my son and/or Eve Online for me... Would chromecast give me smart TV functionality on a non-smart TV? Right now, I'm leaning towards buying nothing and keeping my money.

Yeah, that 65" requirement is naturally more expensive, as it is not a standard form factor size for TV manufacturers. You will find cheaper going down to 60 or up to 70. Either way, good luck, and let me know if I can help in the future.

Yeah, seeing that 65s are all the same or more expensive than the 70s... I'm trying to make myself interested in a 60, but it's not working so far... I'll probably just keep my money.

Yes, but keep in mind that it isnt as simple as plug into tv and forget. You need to have a powered usb connection for it, which is typically odd for most people using it on TVs. Most TV USB hubs are passive, not powered.

Now I need to pick out a wall mount that will hold up this 70in screen... ;-)
I'm sure some people would nit-pick it, but I like this Vizio. My last TV was a 13in CRT that I got rid of about 5 years ago. Haven't had any TV since. My parents have the Samsung 65in smart TV and I've played with it a bit... I find the smart function fantastically annoying compared to the Vizio's. Chromecast to make up for it's lack of D/Led media compatibility running DLNA push from my Galaxy Mega w/ 64GB uSD card... I might go from no TV to complete couch potato in one day. Lols. I just finished binge-watching Firefly in 1080p. Now I have to find The Walking Dead... I think 4TB HD is going to fill up fast...
Right now it's leaning up against the wall. Need a mount that is super slim. No need for tilt or swivel. Doesn't need to be fancy. I can take the wall apart and put in cross-studs for support. I just want to make sure the TV never falls off the wall.

In case anyone else is in the market...
I got that 70in Vizio. I freakin' LOVE this TV! Thanks so much for hooking me up. Coming with a remote that has a keyboard on the back is excellent. For the price, you'd think Samsung would do that, too... I got an open-box unit that claimed to have scratches on the bezel, but I can't find a thing wrong with it. Backlight is not perfectly even, but it's so minor the only way you can see it is on a perfectly black screen, such as when nothing is tuned in/it's just powering up. Speakers leave something to be desired, but perfectly serviceable. Being that the last time I owned a TV, it was a 13in CRT, some might say I'm too easy to please...
With a second-hand Chromecast plugged in, it's heaven. Some people knock the "bottom band" style "smart app" interface, but I find it convenient as it doesn't interrupt whatever is on screen and even has a sidebar function that still doesn't interrupt anything. This alone is reason enough for me not to buy other smart TVs. Samsung, for example, launches a whole new interface with a choppy/delayed PiP thing when you go smart mode... Vizio's method is minimally invasive and intuitive. I much prefer it and am glad I bought it. Yahoo, yeah, ghey... But it works.
The built-in DLNA is odd... I can push to the Chromecast with bubbleupnp in formats that the built-in DLNA won't read. Conversely, the built-in DLNA will read some of the formats that bubbleupnp won't. Between the two, they cover just about everything without making me find a computer. Running rygel, I can use bubbleupnp to push off of my 4TB drive bank. Navigation for the built-in DLNA is a bit clumsy and slow to load, but it works. I'm not digging into the transcoding on the flay stuffs...
I'm damn glad I bought this thing. Don't be afraid of the Visio.
