SFRPay enabled wallet is now out with v2.4.2. We were able to complete it before the approx. release date.

Wallet download link : http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-windows-2.4.2.zip

MAC and Linux wallets will be up later.

What is SFRPay?

We have received many requests from our users that they were not able to buy SFR at a particular time because their BTC took time to arrive. When they wanted to buy, the price was much higher.
We felt we needed to address this and have SFR delivered to them in as fast as 1 block confirmation.
Hence we created SFRPay that lets you buy SFR with fiat(USD only at present, later will be expanded to EUR, CNY).
Currently the method used is through PayPal. You can use your existing PayPal account or buy as a guest user with your CC.

Instructions

The process is fairly simple and you could receive SFR in 5 minutes.

You need to choose a Voucher Package. Available Vouchers are : 100 SFR, 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000.

Enter an email at which you wish to receive your Voucher code. Cross-check your email. If you do not have access to your email address or enter a wrong email address, you will not be able to redeem your SFR.
Re-enter your email and click the "Initiate Request" button.

After a few seconds, your default web browser will pop up displaying the PayPal login box. Login to your account and make the payment for the appropriate amount in fiat.
If you feel that the payment page is taking too much time to load, just stop and refresh the page.
After the payment is complete, you will get a mail at the email address you provided containing your Voucher Code.
If you do not find this mail in your inbox, do check your spam.

Enter the code you received in your email in your wallet. Once the code is verified, the appropriate SFR will get transferred to the SFR address you specified within 1 block confirmation.

That is it!

If you encounter any problems, do let us know!

Download v2.4.2 from http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-windows-2.4.2.zip

We would like to propose some upcoming features. Your input would greatly help.

We are really excited about some unique features we are going to develop.

One of those features is SFRDirect.
We had drafted this out briefly some time back but now we feel it is time to start developing it and push it up our Roadmap.
SFRDirect would be a decentralized escrow service that connects buyers and sellers to buy and sell SFR at a single price. You do not need to trust any person or service to hold your funds. A trusted node on the entire SFR network will handle this for you.
We will have a WhitePaper prepared explaining SFRDirect and its implementation in detail later.
This would become the World's first decentralized escrow service.
This is currently our "big" feature and would take time to develop.

There are some other features that we have in our mind such as a coin recycler. We are not sure if there is still a market for a coin recycler but if you guys want it, we will have it developed.
For those that don't know, a coin recycler enables you to convert any other coin to SFR. If you have a bunch of altcoins that you want to get rid off, you can recycle them for SFR.

We were very interested in ROXCoin. It was a very promising coin but it died due to their Developers leaving. We can't revive ROXCoin but we are thinking of implementing some of its features in SFR.
We can target Hollywood as well as Bollywood. It will in fact help the growth of cryptos. We could also implement a unique feature where you are listening to a particular song in your wallet and you can transmit that song to nodes that you choose on the SFR network. It is like decentralized music sharing!
If we have good response for this, we will include it in our roadmap.

There is one more thing which we are most excited about and would bring the next revolutionary feature in crypto. We will have one of the most used centralized feature, decentralized. This would let different altcoins actually "talk" to each other. It is high time altcoins stop competing against each other and start working together. This feature would very much enable that. We will be working with other coin developers to bring this out.
More info on this will be available later.

So what do you all think of everything proposed in this post?

With respect to this post : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320.msg8223523#msg8223523

We spoke about including a decentralized Music Sharing feature built into the wallet. Would like to update on this.

Have you guys checked out this IBM Commercial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgxqqQj8i5A ?

We will be implementing something similar but a decentralized version. This is a near-term feature. We haven't thought of a name for it yet. If you can come up with some good names, you can suggest.

We will first launch a built-in music player into the wallet. Then, a later version will include the decentralized sharing and recording of your voice.

There is a big unique feature/protocol mentioned in the above post where different coins can "communicate" with each other. We have thought of a name for that and presently call it "Project Orion". Whenever we talk about Orion in future posts, think it is being referred to this feature.

The wallet with built-in music player could be launched soon. ETA will be given after some days.

Cheers!

Development Update

Our next major feature will be a built-in music player. We are going to expand on ROXCoin's visions.
This music/media player would be the first step towards SaffronCoin's decentralized/P2P music sharing.

We will be adopting Blockchain 2.0 i.e. Sidechains for all our decentralized services including SFRDirect. Using the existing Blockchain for other P2P features like some other coins is not optimal because the Bitcoin Developers call that to be "spamming" the blockchain.
So a Sidechain can host a variety of services without interrupting the original chain.

Our next wallet could be out in a week's time. Some members requested some extra essential features such as Wallet Update notifications and a currency convertor for SFR in BTC and Fiat.

Will have all these in the next wallet!

I've made a new .deb for Ubuntu LTS 14.4 and an ubuntu repo!

To install and keep up to date you have to add this line into /etc/apt/sources.list :
Code:
deb http://ownzen.fr/ubuntu/packages/i386/ /

Then :
Code:
sudo apt-get update && apt-get install saffroncoin-qt-mt

This will install the saffroncoin multitasking wallet into /usr/bin/saffroncoin-qt and all its dependencies!
Just search "saffron" into menu and click the icon Cheesy

If all goes well, when next wallet will be released, you will just have to type :
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install saffroncoin-qt-mt
And the wallet will be updated!

I've added as well a menu icon Smiley.

Let me know if it works for you!

Debian specific DEB package is more difficult to compile, because the stable version does'nt have QT5 and the MT wallet required it.
If someone want it, I can make it but it will be only for Debian SID users Sad

We will be releasing a wallet tomorrow, Monday. It will contain essential features such as:

-Valuation of your SFR in BTC and fiat.

-Wallet update notification.

-New SFRPay vouchers for 7000 and 10000 SFR. So the limit is increased from 5k SFR to 10k SFR. This is being done after noticing the success of SFRPay. It is a widely used feature in our wallet. Many have bought 5k SFR twice. So we thought to better increase the limit to 10K.

-We might be adding some charity organisations that accept BTC into the SFRBit tab. So if you like to donate to a charitable trust, you can do so with your SFR using SFRBit. (This feature is not confirmed. We still have to obtain a list of notable charitable trusts accepting BTC.)

We are thinking of removing the built-in exchange trading feature. Don't think it is used much and it does tend to lag the wallet a bit.

This is the client side of the Coin Recycler where you select the coin you wish to recycle. Enter a Saffroncoin address where you wish to receive your SFR. After clicking the "Recycle" button, you will be given an address corresponding to the coin you selected to recycle. You need to send your other altcoins to that address. Once confirmed, you will get appropriate amount of SFR at current exchange rates transferred to you.

The wallet will be available soon.

Wallet v2.4.3 Release with some essential features and a coin recycler

Windows : http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-windows-2.4.3.zip

MAC : http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-mac-2.4.3.zip

Linux wallet will be available later.

Features :

1. Coin Recycler added which lets you recycle DOGE, MYR, RDD for SFR.
2. Wallet Update notification provided.
3. Total valuation of your SFR in BTC, USD, EUR, INR, CNY.
4. 2 SFRPay vouchers added - 7k, 10k SFR.
5. Fixed a bug that did not resize the IRC window.

For Coin Recycler make sure the amount of other coins you send is greater than the value of 0.0002 SFR. For eg. Send a min. of 1000 DOGE, 900 MYR, 2000 RDD. If you do not receive SFR within 5 mins, then your amount is lesser than the equivalent SFR value of 0.0002. Just send more coins to the address you received so that the total value of those coins is over 0.0002 SFR.

P.S. We are going to post about our 2 big developments and update the roadmap in a few minutes.

Big Development update on Project Orion

We have been talking about Orion for quite some days, on the forums as well as IRC. We are now going to announce what "Project Orion" is openly. This is the biggest development of SaffronCoin and something that could take cryptos to a higher level.

We were very much focused on communication, innovation and user flexibility when we first started. Hence, we probably have the best and most feature-packed crypto wallet now. A few days back on our IRC channel, we were discussing of ways to evolve crypto truly rather than spamming the existing blockchain with unnecessary services. We wanted to provide our users the same ease of use they got using centralized services, in a decentralized fashion. After a lot of discussion of these ideas, the idea for "Orion" was born.

We are going to give you a decentralized version of the most used centralized service - EMAIL. You would not have to worry about agencies snooping on your mail.
Orion would be a decentralized cross-crypto communication protocol through which you can send and receive "mail" to and from other cryptos (provided they have implemented Orion Protocol). In layman's language, Orion can be known as Crypto-Mail (c-mail).
Suppose you are sending a mail from your Saffroncoin wallet to a Vericoin address, the recipient's c-mail address would be : <vericoin_address>@vericoin. The nodes on the networks of Saffroncoin and any other Orion compatible crypto-currency would route the mail to the destination.

There are P2P messaging services but Orion tends to deepen the crypto world connection by cross-currency communication.
During initial stages, there would be only text mail support but once this protocol gains wider support, we will work on file transfers as attachments just as you do in your normal e-mail.
We will be working with other cryptos to test the Orion protocol.
We will provide a detailed Whitepaper on the technical implementation of Orion in a few days.

SFRDirect
SFRDirect is a decentralized trading/escrow platform where you trust no-one with your funds. We will be releasing an alpha version of a SFRDirect compatible wallet in some days which uses the existing blockchain. Once we successfully test the stability, the future versions will implement "Sidechains" over which this service will run.
Many decentralized apps will run on the sidechain thus not "spamming" the original blockchain.

These 2 are our biggest developments. Would like to know your views.

This is our updated Roadmap :

If you feel that the payment page is taking too much time to load, just stop and refresh the page.

Do you mean the following page?

I tried many times on different days to purchase SFR with a credit card (as guest via Paypal). Everytime, after I enter my credit card and confirm the purchase, the small window close and I'm stuck on that "loading" page. Once I waited for more than 5 minutes. It never go further. I tried on Chrome and Internet Explorer, nothing work.

Another question:
What is the current stance of Paypal about bitcoin and cryptomoney? I remember when they closed accounts of people using Paypal to buy & purchase bitcoin. I have a very old Paypal account, never got problem. I don't want to jeopardize it.  Undecided

To which country is your paypal account got registered? If it is India, your transaction will not go through since our merchant account is from India. PayPal does not allow transfers within India.

Regarding PayPal stance, they do close accounts that deal with Bitcoin directly. That is the reason we are using vouchers as digital goods. We are not using PayPal directly to trade cryptos. Users can buy vouchers with a code in it. These are legal by PayPal and fall under "digital goods". I don't think Paypal really cares if those vouchers are used to buy cryptos.

On the International thread, many users have reported successfully purchasing SFR in the wallet. We had processed over 1 BTC worth of SFR in 2 days. Some had to refresh that Payment page about 3-4 times. We can't do anything about that. That is the PayPal API and it is their server that takes time to load. Maybe for Indian Merchants, there PayPal servers are not fast enough.
It may take about 2 mins for the page to load. But if your PayPal is from India, then you can't use this service.
We are working to implement Indian Payment Gateways for Indian users.

Also everything has worked smoothly till now. INR has been transferred to my Bank account from PayPal.
