Could be a challenge. Some coins consume large amounts of RAM. On my FreeBSD box, orbitcoind currently has 1035MB allocated to it, with 573M in use.

It's certainly doable - I've successfully compiled and run VOLT on a Pi B+ - but you'll probably be using a fair amount of swap, which may cause issues with excessive write cycles on your SD card.

Staking may also be a little erratic, since the CPU is less powerful, but I guess in the long term the increasing weight (due to "missed" stakes) would even everything out.

Challenge is an understatement..

I have been at it a couple of days now and I am pretty much defeated. If anyone does mange to get it to compile on the PI. id love to hear about it.

Phoenixcoin runs well on Raspberry Pi, but Orbitcoin is double the block count and also much higher on memory usage because the block index is kept in memory. It will run on Banana Pi or ODROID C1 or something like. You should compile with all assembly optimisations off because there is no code for ARM yet.

Yeah, looks to be a no go on the PI.

I managed to compile and start syncing but the client crashes about a quarter of the way through sync.

Bummer.

Ok, I am clearly a sucker for punishment..

I've read others in the thread have had issues syncing from scratch with client crashes.

If one of you kind souls could provide a linux bootstrap I could load onto the pi you could really help me sleep at night.

I hate it when things dont work, but I am so close. I just cant let go.

Bummer.

Are you using a Pi B+ or Pi 2?

Do you have swap enabled?

What does messages say?

I have a Pi 2 still sitting in the box, once I get around to connecting it I may have a go at compiling and starting up orbitcoind, just for fun Smiley

Raspberry Pi 2 will do it. I have updated the OP with a link to the Linux block chain data.

Thank you ghostlander, and anyone else who threw in some tips for me!

I am happy to report that I am happily staking my orbs on the Raspberry PI 2. Considering I am a total linux noob, I'm feeling quite proud of myself right now. I really appreciate the help.
Anyone trying this at home is in for a challenge, but that's all part of the fun.

must get sleep...

...after you get 18.713 more ORB.

IIRC, 20 orb minimum to stake.

Removed Crypto-Trade and Cryptoine from the list of exchanges as they have turned belly up apparently.

what's happend?

Ok the springboard was too small and is broken! Thus, it must now be longer! That means it will have more momentum when it comes so!

The pullback on 232.00 has confirmed the upward trend at the moment!
The RSI on the daily chart is continued in the upward movement! It takes up only longer!

The important thing is that the BTC itself from the downward trend! And he does!
In daily chart clearly splitting between Downtrend and upward movement!

The Scrypt Algo has probably reached its lows! On Nicehash strong premiums are paid for hours for Hashrates! Consistently 50-100%
In Cloud Mining, prices have risen about 10% per Kh/s! In the last 24 hours!

I now estimated that we get until the middle of the month more exercise!

There are many signs in my eyes on a upward trend but decide for themselves!
