Self-moderated topic is not a problem, problem is in lack of community, marketing and investors.

For starters, I don't mine any self moderated topic coins. And everyone know about them. I got many of my comments deleted for pointing out their scams. And you're saying it doesn't matter?

Having non self-moderated topic doesn't protect you from scams like AsiaCoin with large hidden premine, where community had to sort it out. How about ASIC resistant algo? X11 sounds good. Quark is better, but slow on GPU (and FPGA).

Like any coin you need to have a use for it.  Something to make people want to buy it!!  Without that 95% of the coins released fail...
