community and devs should be aware of this... if io.js take off it might be worth switching over nodecoin to the io.js framework as it seems to be more ethically aligned with the values of the bitcoin community and is also cross compatible so it shouldn't be a difficult switch. Ultimately this article just shows the strength of the foundation of this coin and makes me feel pretty good about this investment.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

These posts only reference the name of this coin, hah, i don't think the name should be changed either. buuuut in the even of a node.js fork to io.js it seems reasonable to ask which side do we want to be on. I looks like its too soon to be picking sides as the fork hasn't even happened, right? It just seems like the 5 of 7 devs threatening to fork the project have our best interests in mind.

That's the whole point. - the bureaucracy is broke and those 5 devs want to fix it. They don't want the language centralized.

Like I said this isn't an urgent matter, as it is only threats at this point. Even if it does fork it seems NODE would be cross compatible with the io.js language. Regardless, it wont make or break the coin, but at some point in the future one language over the other would offer specific advantages (reason for fork). This isn't really an issue until (if and when) such a crossroad occurs. Even then its likely to be trivial. Only time will tell.

This is what concerns me most about this coin. The number of fudsters, beggars and children clogging up this thread (the only place the community has at this point to congregate). While they're only a smattering of the number of investors in NODE, they seem to make up a significant portion of the vocal community.

The free giveaway at the beginning has brought in some real doozy investors with some silly and immature ideas that reek of get-rich-quick schemers.

Coin tech: promising
Devs: Active
Community: Non-existant.

File your post under fud also, newbie accounts seem to pop up a lot now just to fud.

I wouldn't mind seeing a small giveaway for new comers so they get a taste of what node has been up to now.

The Dev fund doesn't have to be touched, we as a node community can do it ourselves.

I'm considering doing one myself so new people can see how node works. I'll think about it.

Is there no Mac client?  If someone is working on one, put me on the beta list.

A Personal Quote on BTT from 2011:
"I'd be willing to make a moderate "investment" if the value of the BTC went below $2.00.  Otherwise I'll just have to live with my 5 BTC and be happy. :/"  ...sigh.  If only I knew.

Your definition of FUD needs work. Concern that the public image of the community of NODE is immature is not FUD, it's an observation.

Perhaps I will reveal a little secret ahead of time but the beta version of the Mac client will be released very soon.
The idea and execution belongs entirely to one of the active members of the Node Community.
Paramon (Andrew), you have an incredibly agile mind and original approaches, it was a pleasure working with you Smiley

manfromaus,
in fact, there is some active "nodians" who really helps us with several sub-projects, but you're right in sense that our Community has much more potential, so will be work on this gradually, step by step. Smiley
Any good Community is based on mutual aid and reciprocity, and in this respect Node Community isn't the worst, believe me, but some really active guys prefers to help more than talk about it Smiley Way, this is our fault - we should try to be more public. So we will work on it  Smiley We welcome any initiative and are ready to support it with all what we can.

Yep.. being active and public would keep interest on this.. Otherwise marketing is pointless.. I know things get silent when there is good things going on and suddenly devs dont feel the need to communicate all what is happening because they are sure about the project. But that way u lose eyes which are future investors.. In my case i've invested in other coins in the past and when things get silent I just walk away and never look back to what happened.. And if u base the success in things like supernet that's ok.. but being silent you just give all the credit to supernet and the money will flow there and node will just end being a way.. or a part of supernet. And that is a parent-child relation and this should be p2p because the eur and usd gateway is something fu***ng serious not just a feature.
