According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

well the very first post does say to delete the wallet and the temp directory created in appdata... and install a new wallet

it is pretty clear about that.

But you said the "old" wallet was the old coin from launch 1 ?!

So its useless to keep the wallet.dat for that not more existing coins.

To change the payout address to the new wallet... well its the same as saying look left and right b4 crossing the street.

I lost 800+ coins from launch 1 which i was happy to like everyone else
I just started miner before work with old address at pool and when i arrived home the wallet was bare from launch 2

I then followed the instructions on page 1 and deleted the appdata folder (bad mistake guys do not do this Grin)

Anyway obviously these coins are gone, but wait, can i restore this folder from the recycle bin to another pc and a new wallet?

Because my new wallet now has new coins which i do not want to loose aswell

I feel bad for you - PM  me your NEW address and I'll send you 150 coins

I'm just a nice guy

Thanks mate, but ill be ok it was only 30 anyway
I am passionate about crypto currency and would like these type of issues to be able to be address professionally
What if i was a big miner and lost 100k coins - not good enough to just say they are gone to bad

You can purchase 33 of these for 0.00089900. That's around 40 cents U.S.D. Or less than a postage stamp.  Grin

Hopefully that will cheer you up.

It's just a mintcoin clone. What could be different?

Hi, I'm an admin from coins4everyone.com.
From what binaryclock at dedicatedpool observed, somebody started mining 2 mn before yesterday's launch, and got something like 30 blocks in those 2mn.

I have not seen any finger pointing about the culprit, but I will...
be pointing to me... that might be my fault. I've checked my log, and it appears that I launched the pool's stratum at :58 instead of :00 (talking about minutes).
So, I might be culprit on that part.

In order to get your paranoia down, I wasn't trying to steal, or to cheat. Our pool is running for quite some time, and we are establishing our reputation with honnesty and dedicated service to our miners and coin dev.
If I was trying to cheat, I would have got 1 block in advance. That's really not worth the reputation. After realizing my error, I was ready to make it up to the dev, by, for example, giving back twice the amount "stealed" to the community.

The reason why the stratum was launched too early is pretty stupid. I usually take my time when compiling a wallet for a launch (to check some stuff, like a hidden obvious trojan, and to be sure that I made no mistake), and I end up starting the wallet 10 mn after the launch. Well.. it appeared that, I was way faster yesterday. When I launched the stratum, I assumed it was around :05 or :10, instead of :58.

As binaryclock also stated, the coin could have survived a 30 block steal (which should have been 1 or 2 blocks) even if it was not fair (and it wasn't), what it didn't survive was the error in the diff adjustement that provoked the instamine of 5% of the whole amount of UVC.

I came clean about that to the dev, just after I had time to analyze my log file this morning, and apologize for the error, but got no answer so far.

I know that people get stressed out during a launch. They get very sensitive. rage, and get their suspicion up very easily.
If you look at it with a little perspective, this wasn't a scam coin, and nobody tried (or at least succeeded) to steal anything.
It was just mistake committed from the dev and a pool admin.

You can rest assured that on my part, that won't happen again.

Cheer's and long live to UVC!

Cheers.  Thanks for clearing that up and coming clean.  Shit happens.  It's how you deal with the problem after the fact that defines the man.

BTW, i wasn't worried about the 30 blocks myself.  But people were finger pointing to me too so I had to clear the air and say exactly what happened Smiley  Didn't know who did it or what, just knew 30 blocks were mined before that.

Anybody know how i can trace a UVC deposit

I forgot to change the deposit address at dedicatedpool and the coins were sent to old wallet address.

Stupid i know, but 12 hours mining now missing  Sad -

Pls help

Blockexplorer is coming asap. stay tuned.

How will the block explorer help recover my coins?
Do the coins get charged back to dedicated if the address is incorrect/does not exist?
Where are they now?
Good to know these things and how they work mining forward

You asked: "Anybody know how i can trace a UVC deposit"

I said: With a blockexplorer we are trying to build right now.....

If you deleted your old wallet, the coins are gone. Until someone in the future generates a new wallet with exactly that address....

OK, know i am pissed

Firstly it was my fault i agree but i have not encountered these problems with a coin before and have been mining for 5 months

The instructions on the 1st page read

Wallets:

Windows Wallet
(password: thankyouforyoursupport! if needed)

Please delete your old wallet as well as the UniversityCoin folder on your %appdata%(RUN - type in 'appdata')

In future could somebody please ADD - don't forget to change or delete your old address at your pool prior to deleting the %appdata% folder

My case was a little different because i was at work and the deposit went through before i realised that the new wallet had been released
I was under the impresion from the talk on the last forum post that the first release block chain would just be deleted, did not know that an entir new wallet would need to be released

We have all learned lessons from this launch good and bad

check your recycle/trash can. if the files are still there you can back up the old address to the new wallet Smiley

He is obsessed with that shitty "cornerstone" hence its the only one that "passed" his test.

u will see the bug later, name any pos coin that is in pow phase u want to be tested?

yes most of pos coins have whitecoins problems, and some else problems

only way to be 100% sure is to run test from block 1 to expected pos block

Don't try to scare me man. Not every pos coin has bug.
