Any coin that makes "stability" its aim should be looking to avoid sharp upswings and pumps more than downswings.

Buying something overvalued is the biggest deterent to usage, and a main obstacle for Bitcoin adoption. Bitcoin can be fairly valued on Monday but overpriced on Tuesday.

If something is undervalued or oversold, that's actually an incentive to merchants.

I don't think BK will get anyone on board with NAUT if he's showing them a chart that looks like the top of a hockey stick. If the NSF is working we'll see long flat lines broken by occassional pushes towards a median price. For the sake of interest I'd like to know the exact time of the first ever NSF activity. I don't think anyone is talking about how a "stability fund" makes it impossible to exploit NAUT as a ponzi scheme, which it should do if the volume ever picks up.

HI BK,

I mentioned this exact same notion last week but it got buried some pages back.  I think it would be a GREAT idea for the NSF fund to outright own some scrypt miners.  They could be adding to the hash power while POW is still going on.  And when POS gets implemented, they can continue to mine at multipools that will convert to NAut.  It would be a great way for the NSF fund to be a little more diverse and balanced.

I highly recommend gawminers.  They allow you to purchase your own scrypt asics and they will host them for you at a gawminers data facility if you like.  The dashboard interface is simple to use and allows you to point at whatever pool you like.   You can also restart your miners through the dashboard and input backup pools in case your preferred pool goes down.

I'm part of their affiliate program, so I can get you some excellent discounts if you're interested.  Their chief marketing officer told me that I can request extreme custom discounts in exchange for cross promotion.  For example, if you advertised in places:  "Nautilus Coin Stabilization Fund":  sponsored by Gawminers.com

+1

As for sponsorship ... maybe the NautilusContent guy could get some kind of sponsership or ad system going. POS transition is a great time to tweak the brand and tell everyone that mistakes have been learned from, that NAUT has adapted. Nothing is more suspicious than a coin that sweeps everything under the carpet as soon as a problem is fixed (pssst, Darkcoin)

Don't be afraid about advertising or assisting other coins.
Interesting idea. Yeah, sponsoring other coins, or indeed anything crypto related, would be very good for the image of Nautiluscoin as being very professional.

Any relationship between coins is something to be monetized. The value that becomes arbitrage when it hits an exchange can be exploited before that point for less risk.

I'm not suggesting anything as weird as sponsoring other coins, I'm suggesting looking for relationships where NAUT can help other coins interact with each other or help a crypto reach into the real world.

Getting NAUT as a loyalty bonus from a multipool, or getting a pool to take less fees if you want NAUT, eg.

I am excited to announce that Nautiluscoin will be sponsoring Jon Fitch, the No.2 Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Ranked Welterweight, in his upcoming fight on July 5th on NBC.  Like many of us, Jon has recently caught the digital currency bug and with this sponsorship he will become the first professional athlete to be paid in a digital currency.  It’s my hope that the Nautiluscoin community will embrace Jon with the same enthusiasm it has shown for the coin itself.

     Over the next few days, anyone who holds Nautiluscoin will be able to be a part of the sponsorship.   We have created a Nautiluscoin wallet for this sponsorship which we have placed 20,000 Nautiluscoins. From now until 5pm Sunday June 22nd the wallet will be open for Nautiluscoin holders to send coins and be a part of the sponsorship.  Our goal is to raise the equivalent of $10,000 so that Nautiluscoin will have prime placement on Jon’s attire and banners during the World Series of Fighting.

    With this sponsorship Nautiluscoin begins its journey toward acceptance as a medium of exchange. In the next few months retailers will be able to accept Nautiluscoin for both online and offline transactions. As well several new ventures will be launched that will use Nautiluscoin exclusively.  This is an exciting time for digital currencies and Nautiluscoin is fortunate to have such a supportive community.

Sponsorship Address: NNpRo99pmbkX4ncn7ui6w9o6djYK48gwCP

Today Jon is doing a radio interview where he will announce this deal.  As well, today at 12 pm Las Vegas time he will hold a press conference where he will wear a Nautiluscoin hat.

Link to Radio interview: http://mmajunkie.com/radio

While I have begun the sponsorship process I want the community to have a chance to take part.  Any amount you send will automatically qualify you to say "Hey, I sponsored Fitch!!!

Fitch is really smart to work out a sponsorship with a coin like Naut. Whatever we pay him today will be worth 10x in a short while  Grin

Current USD Value of NAUT is $0.082647, so $10,000/$0.082647 = 120996.52739966 NAUT
USD Value Reference: http://www.coinmarketcap.com/

But we know 20k is already in the wallet, so 100996.52739966
I'm trying to use mine to fund my own project(s) so I don't have much to spare I only thew in 10 (for now).
so down to 90996.52739966
But hen there's the 500 you sent.
90496.52739966

Of the people here who have posted. I haven't gone and looked at the wallet's actual value.

BK - If the POS testing goes well this weekend it would be an excellent time to move over soon, now that we have a lot of media buzz going for us. We'll be at 4 million coins in about five days. Maybe that's a little to early for the developers, but if not it would make for a nice round number to finish the POW phase on. Looking at other coins with similar supply, like XC and Vertcoin, they're hoovering at about $0.70 per coin. We would probably end up with a similar valuation in the short term, and build a floor there for a while, if we cut down on the extreme inflation around there.

A larger marketcap would also make future sponsorship a lot easier, as we'll have much more money to work with as a community. Of course it would also create a lot more stability, and make NAUT even more attractive to merchants and future investors.

I don't understand one thing:

Quote
Nautiluscoin Specifications:

* Scrypt
* 159.39 coins per block
* 1 minute block target
* 16,180,000 total coins
* 1% reduction every week
* DigiShield difficulty retargeting
* 1% premine

Nautiluscoin started 50 days ago. So we should have about 72000 blocks and 11 000 000 coins, because of 1 minute block target and 159.39 coins per block.
After 50 days, why we have only 23928 blocks and market cap is only 3,762,748?

There have been a few stuck blocks.
