can you explain the hash function a little bit? and 1 day diff retarget is going to pillage this coin until it reaches block 1440.
*edit, the retarget is max 400% higher so it may take a few 1440 rounds to stabilize at 1min block time target.  currently 20 minutes produced 800 blocks Cheesy

$MAID & $BTC other than that some short hodls and some long held garbage.

Sure, this is intentional. In our opinion coin launches shall favour early adopters allowing them to mine a lot.

Some of the best coins start this way. No premine is also a great thing! no standalone miner so no botnets yet. Kewl!

Cool, I like, and I'm intrigued that the gpu miner experts put together a non gpu minable coin or rather one that does not favor gpu mining.  +1000

Will Bitcoin Rise Again to $10,000?

Algorithm details:
Roulettecoin uses custom designed randomized algorithm:
  • first block is hashed with sha2
  • then 16 rounds of hashing are performed, each round with randomly chosen algorithm from the set of 16 hashing algorithms: blake bmw cubehash echo fugue groestl hamsi jh keccak luffa sha2 shabal shavite simd skein whirlpool
  • for each nonce value combination of algorithms is different, there are 16^16 = 18446744073709551616 possible combinations overall. Therefore it's not possible to use SIMD advantage of GPUs, because each GPU core would have to compute different instruction flow.
  • It's possible to optimize GPU miner by computing all algorithms for each round (then GPU can use its SIMD advantage), but resulting miner is still slower than CPU miner.

Did you people read this? How is this innovation not getting any more attention?Cheesy

Or are people just mining it in stealth so they can gain most of the coins for themselves?

Mining with the wallet on the same rig mining another scrypt coin lowers my cgminer hashrate by almost 50%. This doesn't happen with any other coin I mine using a standalone CPU miner.

Thats what I'm doing. I have one wallet on each of my rigs and one on this computer.  Grin To fix the 50% problem just mine with 1 less CPU thread.

thanks but no thanks!
We felt sorry for CPU miners after creating so versatile GPU miner for CPU-only coins, so now we created a (hopefully) true CPU-only coin.

oh please.

Cute idea and it's going to make the GPU fun, but this is a bogus claim.

Process roughly 4096 keys at a time in 16 different workgroups, each working on a specific algorithm, shuffling the keys between them as they switch between rounds.  Requires a little more attention paid to global memory use because the keys are probably too big to fit in local, but there's nothing fundamentally hard about this coin.

Thanks that worked. I use gen=1 in the wallet conf to automatically start mining without launching the wallet debug console. Is there a  way to set the number pf cores automatically using the wallet conf file?

Thanks. I'm mining on a dual-core rig. Mining with standalone cpu miners I can run the -t 3 setting without affecting the hash of another coin using cgminer. Mining with the wallet I can only set it to 1 without lowering the hash of the other coin so i'm guessing you can only set the number of cores when mining with the wallet, not the number of cpu threads (2 threads per cpu core) like you can with a standalone cpu miner.

Sorry, we don't get it, could you elaborate? Especially on how are you going to synchronize these workgroups and what do you mean by shuffling the keys between them? Shuffling like moving them around in a global memory? Or perhaps draw the general idea, a picture would make it more clear.

1. Have 16 regions of global memory, one per hash function to compute.  Each region can store, say, N keys.
2.  Define a function that groups keys by their low-order 4 bits using local memory, for a workgroup.  Call this put_keys_in_bins().
   The result of calling put_keys_in_bins is that all 256 of the keys computed by a workgroup will be placed into the appropriate regions of global memory.
3.  Compute a lot of sha512 hashes for a lot of keys and call put_keys_in_bins().
for i = 0; i < 16; i++ {
   for algo = 0; algo < 16; algo++ {
     invoke hash_algo on bin[algo]
   put_keys_in_bins for all of those keys again.

I'll stop doing your homework for you at this point.  There are plenty of GPU devs who could do this.  the choice of Echo makes it a little problematic for C&C to destroy this coin in a few days, but if anyone would like to place bets.... :-)

Well I managed to mine 3700RLT on a first gen Core i7 before the difficulty jumped. Not too bad, thats 74 blocks. That instamine was fun, thanks devs.

3.  Compute a lot of sha512 hashes for a lot of keys and call put_keys_in_bins().
for i = 0; i < 16; i++ {
   for algo = 0; algo < 16; algo++ {
     invoke hash_algo on bin[algo]
   put_keys_in_bins for all of those keys again.
   }
}

I'll stop doing your homework for you at this point.  There are plenty of GPU devs who could do this.  the choice of Echo makes it a little problematic for C&C to destroy this coin in a few days, but if anyone would like to place bets.... :-)

OK, we get it now. Looks promising, we will try to apply this optimization in a GPU miner.

I've got a python module ready for testing .. I'd just need a cpu/gpuminer with your algo implemented, let me know or pm me when you got something, so I can set up a pool.

Note that Roulettecoin has 88 bytes long block headers, there are two extra fields reserved for future use. They shall be set to 0 now. We created an initial unoptimized standalone cpuminer: https://github.com/roulettecoin/roulettecoin-cpuminer. During testing the miner we found a bug in wallet's getwork implementation that was preventing extra fields from being set to 0 when sending new work via RPC. It's fixed in current source, so anyone wanting to use getwork shall recompile. We'll make a new binary release later today.

You don't need to set anything in conf file to use Roulettecoin wallet or solo mine with the wallet. Information about port numbers is provided in opening message, read it carefully.

No joke - joke coin was Maxcoin, i had no idea how to use the maxcoind.exe daemon - noobbutthurt

im no expert, only been at this for 4months - but reading thru the thread, download wallet wait for it to sync - debug

setgenerate true X

where X = core you want use.

wallet mining only for the moment as there wallet has rpc issues so conf file is useless ( better this way imo ), my guess will be that less then a week a gpu miner will be available and clones of this labeling itself as X16

Sorry I didn't mean to insult anyone. I compiled the daemon and wallet in Linux and found that you haven't include the boost_chrono in makefile. Not a problem with me because I could solve it myself but maybe a little tricky for new users.
The problem it I didn't get any source to connect my client with the network since 2 hours. Would you mind to share any nodes?

Regards,

EDIT: never mind it finally gets connected. Thanks anyway.

I didn't notice that seed nodes were already saturated with connections, I will add more IPs to dnsseed ASAP. Thanks for pointing that out. Here are some node IPs in case someone else has connection problems:

84.54.168.23
54.84.102.48
128.2.209.18
107.170.253.97
50.191.199.127
85.25.26.232
173.1.1.213
173.1.1.212
213.37.105.92
62.210.177.2

EDIT: dnsseed.roulettecoin.cc is now automatically seeded with network nodes, that should fix connection problems.

I would like to mine this, it looks interesting. However, I need more specific instructions. I am kind of slow and stupid that way, sorry... Smiley
I have downloaded wallet and cpuminer. Usually, I start a bat file and it opens cpuminer... Now, I have no idea where to start. What do I do? If you think it is a bother to write, maybe give me a link. All these files make me dizzy (they don't even have file extensions!), I just want to mine... I have Windows 8.

Anyway, can we be open to discuss the trademark and logo? We have CasinoCoin, JackpotCoin etc. Also, isn't it time to drop the "coin" in every trademark, it starts to feel very old-school. What do you think, dev? Change of trademark would most likely be beneficial if we going for the long run. I make claims to be a marketing strategist.

There is no CPU miner binary for Windows yet. If you want to mine RLT, just run the wallet exe and type "setgenerate true" in the debug window as with any other coin.

We wouldn't even call the current graphics a logo, it's just a placeholder image that doesn't scale down very well. Will be definitely changed in the future. As for the name, we like the current one, it's kind of related to the randomized mining algorithm.

GullibleGooo, typing "setgenerate true" in the help > debug window > console will start the miner on all current cpu cores/threads.  to specify a number of threads type "setgenerate true x" where x is the number of threads youd like to run.

roulettecoin dev, Id name the algo roulette Wink or come up with something so we can identify it quickly.  Launch seemed good, after the miners are spruced up and available whats next?

Roulette as a name for algorithm sounds good Cheesy. Long term plan is top secret for now Cool. But we can tell you some things it doesn't involve: creating an empty marketing hype and getting on an exchange fast to pump & dump.

Roulette as a name for algorithm sounds good Cheesy. Long term plan is top secret for now Cool. But we can tell you some things it doesn't involve: creating an empty marketing hype and getting on an exchange fast to pump & dump.

Yes, the word 'roulette' for an algorithm is good, but it is not a good trademark for a coin. I almost skipped reading the thread because of it, since in the shadow of CasinoCoin JackpotCoin BetCoin or whatever, how interesting can it be with a RouletteCoin? At first, it sounds like a novelty idea, a cheap clone. It is misleading as it does not indicate innovation and thought, nor integrity or character, just a rather blunt gamecoin. It would be a pity if this coin went by unnoticed.
Please re-consider the brand of the coin. Keep in mind the competition for new coins are fiercer than ever, most investors and traders only take a few seconds to browse through a list of (to them) unknown coins. One needs to stick out in a credible way.

GullibleGooo, typing "setgenerate true" in the help > debug window > console will start the miner on all current cpu cores/threads.  to specify a number of threads type "setgenerate true x" where x is the number of threads youd like to run.

Thanks a lot guys! I had no idea one could mine from the wallet Smiley

In the unlikely event that someone else is in need of this information, I include more thorough instructions from xpm123.com/howtomining.html:

1. Open your wallet, waiting for synchronizing with network over.

2. From Help-Debug Window-Console, use the command “setgenerate true”.

For example: setgenerate true 3

“3” means that mining is limited to 3 processors. If you have a CPU with 4 cores, one will be idle.

“-1” means unlimited. Mining will occupy 100% CPU.

3. Use “getmininginfo” to check your mining state.

Notice: “hashespersec” means the speed of computing primes, but it does not show all of the mining efficiency.

You can get the miner from the top of the tread.  You need the roulettecoin-qt.exe running locally on a computer.

for windows create file  in %AppData%\Roaming\Roulettecoin\roulettecoin.conf

with the following content

rpcuser=ANY
rpcpassword=any
rpcport=8668
rpcallowip=*
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1
gen=0

To mine with the custom miner running on same computer as wallet.

minerd.exe -o 127.0.0.1:8668 -u ANY -p any -t 6

use the -t to set your thread count.

if it works you'll see

2014-05-03 00:23:10] thread 2: 103429 hashes, 19.86 khash/s
2014-05-03 00:23:10] thread 0: 105562 hashes, 19.99 khash/s
2014-05-03 00:23:10] thread 1: 115700 hashes, 20.08 khash/s
2014-05-03 00:23:14] thread 3: 100152 hashes, 20.05 khash/s
2014-05-03 00:23:14] thread 2: 99293 hashes, 20.39 khash/s
2014-05-03 00:23:14] thread 0: 99940 hashes, 20.40 khash/s

We have a roulettecoin-adapted litecoinseeder running to ease the burder on seed nodes. However there are only 17 nodes currently accepting incoming connections, most likely your is one of them and that's why you get a lot of connections (from roulettecoin peers, not litecoin).

Difficulty increased, yesterday it was easier to mine. My last found block is from 14 hours ago. Not sure about what you found in debug.log.

Well that's good, but it would be nice if you could change the seeder's version message.  I guess it was just a coincidence that a bunch of nodes simultaniously disconnected the one time I was watching the log.

I'll stop doing your homework for you at this point.  There are plenty of GPU devs who could do this.  the choice of Echo makes it a little problematic for C&C to destroy this coin in a few days, but if anyone would like to place bets.... :-)
You were right, I got about 1 MH/s on R9 290. Source code of the miner (ugly CPU miner hack): https://github.com/roulettecoin/roulettecoin-gpuminer. Not for the faint of heart.

Thanks. It's around 20 times faster than core i7-4770k. But I wonder this coin can survive? Nothing after 3 days. What's a pity.

Roulettecoin @ Nonce-Pool

http://rlt.nonce-pool.com/index.php

Pool is in beta, the miner needs a little fixing for stratum to work, feel free to try it out if you like, see the home page for details.

Hopefully someone can provide some win miners.  Undecided

We commited a proper fix of the stratum bug to the CPU and GPU source code code. Please recompile your miners and try. The pool works just fine.

Seriously, how is this coin not getting any more attention?

I want a pool already that i can mine it in. Smiley

We will be giving out 100 RLT for the first 3 block finders.

BlockQuarry now has Roulettecoin support.

https://rlt.blockquarry.com/index.php?page=gettingstarted

Make sure your using the latest CPU or GPU minerd for proper stratum support.

Since we have no windows build environment we have to outsource this and have made a couple of requests, so hopefully they will come soon

we have reserved 1% of the initial pool fees for these types of things e.g. miners/explores so for those that are capable, feel free to build some miners we will gladly make a donation toward you  Smiley

If you are looking for a pool, rlt.Blockquarry.com is actually finding blocks! You have to get a copy of the source from after they updated it to support stratum, but once I recompiled I'm getting coins from a pool.

Thanks for the updated binaries.  Unfortunately my shares are not getting accepted with the CPU miner.  On my Linux box when building from source my shares get accepted but with the Windows binary posted above it gets rejected.  I get authenticated fine but just get booooo for each share submitted with this Windows miner.

Excellent! but...

Cpu miner all shares are above target.

Gpu miner submits a good share followed immediately by duplicate share, which is rejected.

Code:
minerd-gpu.exe -o stratum+tcp://mine2.rlt.nonce-pool.com:4010 -u user.1 -p x -t 2 i-22
pause

-t is number of gpus and/or threads

looks like you can set the intensity with -i

cpu is similiar

Code:
minerd-cpu.exe  -o stratum+tcp://mine2.rlt.nonce-pool.com:4010 -u Admin.3 -p x

-t for cpu miner is number of threads

I do not have a batch file but a command like this should work:

minerd-gpu.exe -o stratum+tcp://rlt.blockquarry.com:3039 -u pinwc4.1 -p x -t 1 -i 22

That was running on a 280X at about 1.4MH/s.  It looks like you can adjust the intensity settings with the -i flag.  Also with -t do not set it to 2 if you do not have that many GPU's, you will get bad shares (boooo) submitted like nonce had mentioned.

I see now looks like -t for gpus is still number of threads, but still related to number of gpus my bad  Roll Eyes

edit: this also fixes the duplicate shares for us for now,  using -t 1 so that info may help with the fix
edit2: ok that still only uses 1 gpu

I'm loving the GPU miner.  Now I can put that graphics card to work.  I'm getting over 1400 khash/s out of my 280x.  In case anyone is interested my command line is below.

minerd-gpu.exe -o stratum+tcp://rlt.blockquarry.com:3039 -u drayg0.280 -p x -q -i 22 -t 1

I'm seeing the same, running the miner with -t 3 on a 3 gpu rig doesn't seem to correctly use the 3 gpu.

Can I run 3 instances of the miner with a single thread on each (dedicated to a single gpu) ?

This is weird because -t 6 seem to be working perfectly for solo mining to wallet.

roulettecoin, could you update the first post with the links to these updated miners and links to the pools?

We are still seeing some people submitting duplicate or low difficulty shares on rlt.blockquarry.com

For pool mining if you are getting rejected shares on your GPU miner, (booooo messages), please make sure you set the -t flag to 1.  The original post showed setting -t to a number for your GPU's but this was incorrect.  You must use the -d flag for specifying which GPU to use.

If you are CPU mining on a pool and seeing many rejected shares then make sure to download the latest miner from roulette's drop box in the link above. The originally posted one will not work properly with stratum mining.

Dev, any plans for the coin ?
We do have plans for this coin, but turning them into reality will take some time, few weeks at least. In the meantime we are going to keep this coin alive, but do not expect wonders, it will keep low profile until we reach our goal.

It is working fine now

Thanks and are you also looking at the following issue with the GPU miner

My test results with GPU miner as follows and i have 4 gpu's

If i use -t 1 - This is working fine

If i use -t 4 - this is showing one thread yay and other 3 boo
You mean this problem is still present with the current GPU miner binary?

I can mine with CPU at http://rlt.blockquarry.com, but can't with GPU. Any ideas? Miners starts and like: stratum detected new block, Platform number is 1, platform blabla Inc. And nothing more, that's all, no hashing.

It's compiling OpenCL code first, wait at least 5 minutes and see if there are any changes.

It seems fine - I've tested it and it seems good.

I believe pttx was trying to get a list of all coins mined into a particular wallet.

Nope, I created wallet, CPU miner and GPU miner for this coin. And the bugs. Lots of bugs. Cry
Block explorer is coming soon too (with even more bugs).

Bug report.  I believe that in gpuminer roulette.cpp line 120:

cl::Buffer countersCL(*m.context, CL_MEM_READ_WRITE | CL_MEM_USE_HOST_PTR, (16 + 1) * sizeof(*countersH), count\
ersH, &err);

is allocating the wrong size buffer.  (16+1)*sizeof(*countersH) is only 17 ints, but countersCL is used with one set of counters per iteration, and so should be (16*16)*sizeof(*countersH)

(or simply sizeof(countersH))

Cheeto, the rlt.blockquarry.com pool owner,  has been working on optimizing the CPU miner.  The code is ugly and he still has quite a bit of work to do but I thought that people CPU mining might want an early build.  Some of the optimizations this is using are from ig0tik3d, so thank you for your work.

Here is a link to the Windows binaries:  https://rlt.blockquarry.com/downloads/roulettecoin-cpuminer-win.zip

Source code is currently here:  https://rlt.blockquarry.com/downloads/roulettecoin-cpuminer-src.tar.gz

I have ran this on Windows 7 and Ubuntu 13.10.  With my CPU's I have seen about a 60% gain in performance.

Good work, on i7-4770K CPU at 3.50GHz we have ~210 kh/s (up from ~145 kh/s with unoptimized miner). That's almost 45% more.

What value for diff or varfiff you use for the pool ?

ok, snopy, it's all yours.  I just realized I'd left my AMD rig on RLT for the last month and completely forgot about it.  Oops.  That was a decent waste of power.

Enjoy the coins, since you and I seemed to be the only people mining it.

Yes, the blockchain's still being tended. I'll hazard a guess that the dev pre-paid for 12 months hosting. It's still trading on allcrypt but there were no buy orders last time I checked. There's a lightweight and incomplete block explorer on http://acme.minkiz.co/rlt/ (JSONRPC-based).

Cheers

yes, its exciting... especially when you find a bunch of blocks in a row...

check out this article I just read from May... Bitcoin being accepted in Las Vegas Casinos as well as the first in-casino ATM. You can pay bitcoin directly for hotel stays, restaurants and gift shops.... but gambling you have to use the ATM first.... http://www.coindesk.com/first-casino-bitcoin-atm-launches-las-vegas/

With the high fluctuations in the markets, it is almost like gambling. It would be cool to see a crypto exchange in Vegas (with big boards like a sports book). And roulettecoin table(s)/machine(s)!!!

I fired up the exe and the blockchain synced with no issues.
So who is still mining this?

Bumping from close to 2 years ago. Came back to this PC with all the old wallets on it. Started this one and it looks to be live.
Anyone here doing anything with it? Or just keeping some nodes up and mining for the hell of it?

Bumping from close to 2 years ago. Came back to this PC with all the old wallets on it. Started this one and it looks to be live.
Anyone here doing anything with it? Or just keeping some nodes up and mining for the hell of it?

Yeah, keeping some nodes up and mining, that about nails it (though I might take a look at upgrading to Core 0.16).

I was curious to find out if it would keep ticking if run on a minimal network, which it seems to be doing quite nicely.

(I was also quietly entertained that the "roulette" in Roulettecoin refers to its hashing algo and not some nebulous association with gaming, as nearly everyone seemed to incorrectly assume).

Cheers

Graham

So, since at least 2 of us are out there using it, and the 1st post does mention it I just registered roulettecoin.cc
For the moment it goes nowhere, but hopefully I'll get some free time (yeah I know, but I can hope) and put a page up and get an explorer working. Don't know when, but I'll try for the next two weeks or so.
