I was posting as per usual then: Sorry MegaHustlr, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.

No other message just that at the top of my page.. I need a clarification ASAP from this forum, something is wrong.

What the heck?
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Might have something to do with this:

Yeah there's a ton of garbage being posted in off topic lately. I suspect it's paid sig spammers giving themselves threads to reply to.

I've suggested posts in off topic shouldn't count towards post count.

Hmm, not sure if the people behind the bots are from the paid sigs or not, but a lot obviously just jump at the chance to post something in a nonsense thread as soon as it's posted. Maybe having certain boards that don't affect your post count would cut the down the spam a bit, but I think it'd also just move a lot of it to somewhere else and we'll then see stupid discussions in the politics section or whatever.

I think we should disable the postcount feature entirely, don't you think ? We have activity , that should suffice.

I've actually suggested that too in the past, but it would still be relatively easy to determine posts, knowing there are 20 per page. I've resigned myself to the fact that we're going to have start banning people, didn't want to but it's getting out of hand. Banned a dozen this morning alone (1 week/2 week duration to start), with a dozen more under review, and I'm just getting started.

You were temp banned (not by me BTW) for a huge amount of low quality posts, contributing little to nothing to the discussion, over a short period of time. Adding the fact you have a paid signature and here you have it.

My suggestion would be to decrease the amount of posts per day, write longer posts and only post if you have something substantial to add.

Posted in another thread. This goes for you as well.

I have an idea: If someone is caught spamming posts for a paid sig, make it so that nothing counts towards their post count for a specific amount of time. Cool

A ban has the exact same effect  Grin. Would be funny if the mods added this feature and the person didn't actually notice for a while even though he was posting away haha.

The post count can still be calculated easily with the post history...

I've been reading that a lot of folks are up in arms about the quality of posts by folks with paid-sig campaign ads in their sigspace.  My own personal opinion is that while spammy posts obviously suck and make the forum dumber---there is a place for paid advertizing for two (related) reasons:

  * ppl with new, inovative bitcoin biz/services can get the word out to many potential customers
** increases the strength of the bitcoin economy (better for us all)
  * newbies (to bitcoin, not newbies to the forum---i think you can see what i mean) have a way to earn a small amount of bitcoin without heavily investing while they check out the system, the economy.
** faucets just pay too low these days for this to be viable

seems like newbies are being targeted this past week by forum members abusing the report button.  I seen many new members getting hitched latley.  I dont know how newbies are able to take any activity in paid sigs since they have to be a member

Newbies? Not really.
I can see 2 threads in meta section mentioning getting banned today.

Anyway, you got banned not because of this post, according to Maged.

lol, I must admit that is kinda funny.

Is there a way to tell what users have been banned? I was looking on some profiles and I couldn't see anything that indicated as such.

AFAIK, there is no way you can see that in profiles.
People can still login their banned accounts, so you may still find "Current Status: Online" on their profiles.

Yeah, don't think there's any way. Maybe having a banned tag where their member status is or something whilst they're currently banned would be a good idea? Might stop any confusion, especially if/when people have deals currently running and they suddenly disappear.

I suggest to change the username font color to red or gray and his member status changed to "banned". That would be great.
