I will post pics next week right when they come in. Grin I got the new units off of ebay. I'll start a setup/install thread once I get my hands on them!

They were the first batch that were sent out, batches since then have not had the same problems.

Just wondering why you bought on ebay?

Yes, elaborate why eBay, and what price roughly?

Why not from Bitmain, or Ninjatech, or 112bit?

I would not buy from Bitmain if you told me you would pay for the rig for me.
those pictures are another customer victim's order direct from bitmain... you shoulda done a bit more research mate.

things you'll need:

working firmware, and the knowledge to install it.
a friend who can rebuild repair shit broken h/w.
1 or 2 blades extra to replace the ones which don't work.

best luck.

The main reason I bought on ebay is simply availability. I would've done a pre-order from bitmaintech, but they only accept BTC. At this time I have been restricted to using a credit card and I don't have the BTC reserves to do that. So instead I used my card, which has fraud protection etc if I need to reverse the payment for any reason. The units were listed as new and were reasonably priced considering the demand for them. Hopefully it will all work out, but I am willing to get my hands dirty and wade into the bullshit if I have to.  Undecided

Sorry mate all three of those points are bullshit since batch 1, the last few from batch 2 and 3 I have had through my hands were fine.

The dude I'm doing all the setup work for was adamant that a CC be used. I got the units for roughly 2700... let the flaming begin on that one haha. However, I was told that the higher price is not a problem so I wasn't too concerned. All I care about now is getting these 4 units in good working order, making repairs if need be, and putting them online ASAP.

rofl... perfect comic clip... kudos, but still NOT COOL on the whole first batch Bitmain. It looks like they just took a pair of metal shears to a few mid-90's honda radiators then threw them into a server case haha.

Batch 2 packaging was pretty solid, and there is a additional foam liner inside the miner to stop the cards from dislodging and flying around. Still, you can never underestimate the damage that UPS can do. I have been lucky in that I've never received a damaged S2 from Bitmain.

I only have one S2, I bought it from www.bitmaintech.com.  It is a batch 2 unit, happy to report that it arrived in perfect condition and has been faithfully providing 1TH/s since I got it.

Condolences to those in batch 1 and 2 that had shipping damage.  Bitmain has made improvements, so hopefully shipping damage will be dramatically minimised in future.

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.
