Hey everyone.

The einsteinium team is currently running a fundraiser for our latest winner Dr. Theresa O’Keefe from Mend Therapeutics. Dr. O'keefe and her team opened a NPO pharmaceutical company to help build open access (open source) affordable medicine for the 100's of millions of people who don't have any insurance or in some cases even access to any healthcare!

They're currently working on a special project aimed at helping those who suffer from some of the terrible complications of diabetes. If any of you have family members or friends who are diabetic then you'll know what kind of compilations can occur due to the illness. Here is a short list for those who are unaware and would like to know:

Heart disease
People with diabetes are at very high risk of heart disease, also known as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke (cerebrovascular disease).

Kidney disease
Over the years, high blood glucose (sugar) levels and high blood pressure can damage the kidneys and prevent them from functioning properly or even cause them to fail completely. About one-third of people who have had diabetes for more than 15 years will develop kidney disease, but good diabetes management and regular screening can prevent or delay the loss of kidney function.

Eye disease (diabetic retinopathy)
This effect of diabetes on the eyes is the most common cause of blindness in people age 65 years and younger and the most common cause of new blindness in North America. It is estimated that approximately two million individuals in Canada have some form of diabetic retinopathy.

Nerve damage
Diabetes affects the circulation and immune systems which, in turn, impairs the body’s ability to heal itself. Over time, diabetes can damage sensory nerves (this is known as “neuropathy”), especially in the hands and feet. As a result, people with diabetes are less likely to feel a foot injury, such as a blister or a cut. Unnoticed and untreated, even small foot injuries like these can quickly become infected, potentially leading to serious complications like amputation. Seven of 10 non-traumatic limb amputations are the result of diabetes complications.

Problems with erection (impotence)
Although erectile dysfunction (ED) affects most men at some point in their lives, it is more common in men with diabetes. In fact, in up to 12 per cent of men with diabetes, ED is the first sign that leads to the diagnosis of diabetes. Older men with a longer duration of diabetes, poor blood glucose (sugar) control, and those who smoke, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease, are at highest risk.

Depression
Approximately 25 per cent of people with diabetes suffer from depression.

This list could go on forever. Now its true, most of the people effected are lower and middle class people but these are the ones that need help the most. Diabetes affects well over 300 million people worldwide with some estimates I've seen as high as half a BILLION people.

Dr. O'keefe is currently running a fundraiser on experiment.com (https://experiment.com/projects/building-an-affordable-drug-for-diabetic-wounds)
As she was our second winner, the Einsteinium Foundation has already made a donation in the amount of $1500 with that money coming from the 2% built in donation through the process of EMC2 mining. Were still a long way to go to fully fund her project (+/- 10K) but we think its possible. Not only do we think its possible, so does the team at experiment.com. They have allowed us to post crypto donation addresses to our latest winners project. Is this experiment.com testing the waters to see how the response is? who knows! But we as a community should come out in force to not only show that we consist of warm, kind, respectful people who take pleasure in helping others but also to show our support for experiment.com and their openness to taking crypto in general.

We have chosen four digital currencies to take during this fundraiser and we chose them based on ease of conversion and community support.

Einsteinium(EMC2): EUk9Vq9JjQzE8MswbEUhcCLLnVbU66cDn7
Dogecoin: DSg5LrsVcd16AZ4HN5moFxi3aep3ugoDvE
Bitcoin: 1L1hgwf7NScWtBQotRLiYoczm4w2UDbDrU
Litecoin: Lhjwa8Q8HqQppq6nzB4rVEpvod1oaUVVv2

(These addresses can also be found on the experiment.com Mend Therapeutics project)

Any and all funds raised, will be donated to Mend Therapeutic even if the goal is not reached. These funds will be put away and held by Mend until the remaining funds for this project can be acquired. I ask you from the bottom of my atom riddled heart. Lets make this happen. Show your support to experiment, Mend, and diabetes all at the same time.

Thanks for your time and donations!

I've made a small BTC donation and a few EMC2 donations. I really like the cause and I see the potential that experiment.com brings to the digital currency world. I'll make a few more donations in the coming days too! I'm proud to take part in this fundraiser and help diabetes at the same time!

It seems experiment just tweeted this.
We have been working with them to regularly support coins and finding them a payment service.
