Hey Bruce, I just wanted to say that I'm very sorry for your loss and I wanted to thank you deeply for all your hard work. You continue fighting for the community day in and day out to bring about change in a very courageous way. You put yourself out there asking the tough questions and I personally think it's priceless for the community that you become their voice. I also love how you've been steadfast in your faith in bitcoin through it's ups and downs because you and I both know what makes bitcoin special. It must be so tough going though something like this personally, but we both know bitcoin is way beyond just you or I getting rich in a few years time. I always felt that your excitement about bitcoin was beyond just the prospect of getting rich personally, but what kind of changes it can bring to the world. That was what made your show special in my eyes every time I tuned in because the viewers can easily feel your excitement about bitcoins.

I can only imagine how you must feel right now after the debacle, but I have faith that you have very bright future ahead personally and with OnlyOneTV with or without those 25k coins. I always admired how you had the drive to put together a TV show first among all the nerds and tech savvy people in the forum. That alone imo is something that is exponentially more valuable than those lost coins. Don't beat yourself up for being the good person that makes you who you are because noone could have predicted what could have happened no matter what they say. Your friends and family should also know this and I hope they can feel the same way. After seeing you in action bringing about the show online and watching you grow over the year, I know you have nothing to worry about at all. Even though you are facing very emotionally tough times, you and your show will only become stronger through this.

I just want to say fight on! Don't let this thief also take away your amazing initiative and drive to help make bitcoin and OnlyOneTv a huge success!

The part that pushed my button so much was his comment that I accept bitcoins because I am selling mining gear.
The exact opposite is true. I am selling mining gear because I accept bitcoins.

I accept bitcoins for deeply rooted philosophical reasons.

I first read about the concept of online digital cash in the late 90's and was enthralled by the idea.
I had been waiting for the last decade for it to come along, and now that bitcoins are here,  I can hardly sleep.
I spend just about every waking moment promoting them in every way I can.  
I'm positive bitcoins are going to change the world for the better, and I want to be a part of that.
I don't care at all about selling mining gear,  and I can't think of something more insulting to me than having my devotion to bitcoin being downplayed.

I'm currently working on another project that I think will be the biggest news yet for the bitcoin community.
It's not for sure yet,  but I hope to be able to make an announcement about it at the end of this week.  (Hopefully on Bruce's show)

I'm looking for insights to the problem posed. Any time you propose going full tilt gold standard, backing gold by BTC, BTC by gold, USD by BTC etc. etc. it's just putting up an abstraction that doesn't actually solve the problem. These all fall in the "you have proposed a solution to spam, here is why it won't work" category. We need to think about this ahead of time, it'll all work out in the end is not a good answer. A few decades of chaos is not a good answer either.

BTW, I think the meaning of inflation/deflation is clear from the given context, at least I'm ok with both the 'proper' use of inflation meaning increase in supply of the currency as well as with the 'common' use of increase of prices of goods priced in said currency (which equals devaluation of the currency, which describes the result of said increase in supply).
