Question: Should a portion of the unclaimed coins be made available for those that missed the swap?
Yes - We have enough to spare, even for late-comers.
No - Sufficient notice and time to complete the swap was given. It wouldn't be fair to those that were punctual.

Yes, please give us more info about the relaunch. What will happen to existing coins, why do you do it, what will change etc.

Click the very first link in the OP. Just so you don't miss it, (not sure how you would  Roll Eyes) it says "CoffeeCoin to be Relaunched". For future reference, you can always find out what we're working on by looking at the OP, specifically the big red letters at the top, or "Developers Hot Topics". Dev Hot Topics contains links within and outside of the thread to the relative topic.

Why relaunch
Update a wallet will be easier

In our case, it's not; we've already tried that route. The code in its current state is un-fixable/un-updatable. When the original dev "wrote the code" for CFC, he included incorrect genesis/nonce data which, once established, can not be changed. This is the IRC conversation between OCdev (the guy rewriting CFC) and myself (profitus):

"-Orangecoindev
Ok
So i sat down last night till like 5am and this morning working of Coffeecoin.
First I built the client, fixing a few small things and decided to just roll stright over to ybcoin. About a 3-4 hr job uninterupted.

-Orangecoindev
So I rolled it over and had a genesis block error. After trying every thing I could to get it to accept the chain it wouldnt.
So I went back to your coffeecoin source and found where it was up to on ybcoin, forked it from there arnd started rolling out the patches.
To the same error.

-profitus
it's so strange...I wonder how it's even working

-Orangecoindev
So l decided to hash the genesis block and check as a genesis block needs 5 parts. 1. A written timestamp that cant be changed 2. A epoochtime that cant be changed. these two things effect the last 3 stages of the genesis block.
3. The merkel hash worked and was the same as the code. You then rebuild the client and run it and then it generates the last 2 factors. 4. The Nonce and 5. The genesis block.
These were both wrong
Nonce was 0 in code and should have been 14727 or something and the hash for the gensis is worng.
So because your using old code it never checks the genesis block, making most of the code pointless.
As your running on a bad hash and nonce that doesnt match the merkel root, epoochtime and timestamp. These cant be changed in reverse they only work forward.

-profitus
so you're saying its un-fixable?

-Orangecoindev
It's really f%#@!* dude" (Edited for language)

CoinPayments.net has competition!

AltAccept recently opened up their doors for business, and they're accepting new coins! I'm in contact with them now, and we'll see how it develops. We're on the verge of releasing CFC wallet V2.0, and the Guild website is nearing completion! The ability to transact in CFC is the next logical phase of development. Perhaps in the future, we will be able to spend CFC at physical storefronts and vending machines...time will only tell.

They've been around for awhile but of course not as long as coin payment of course,  but still.   It would be GOOD to have something though.

What will happen to the coins I already hold after the relaunch though, is the old blockchain still valid or are my coins going to disappear?

If you follow the instructions laid out and posted in several places on this thread, (the very first link in the OP, for example) your coins will be swapped to V2.0 coins by the participating exchanges. You can keep your old coins if you want, but they will be worthless, nonexchangeable, and incompatible with V2.0 addresses. A digital paper-weight, if you will  Grin

By next weekend; a very small price to pay, and well worth it, in the grand scheme of things. Min stake age will be 24 hours in V2.0, anyway.  Grin

Read the last 5 posts above yours. Right now, that is the most recent client. A new client will be released next weekend; current addresses/coins will not be compatible with V2.0 addresses/coins. If you get any CFC between now and next weekend, put them on one of the participating exchanges (detailed in OP), update to V2.0 client (when it's released), and wait for your chosen exchange to give the "ok" to withdraw.

I re-read my post, and that first part came across a bit rude. It's hard to convey emotion through text haha. Glad you got your question answered!  Grin
