Coin amount can shrink or expand based on the demand for the coin, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

That  is correct.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I have done this without success to sync.

Do I need additional nodes, or digit.conf file ?

make sure you remove old addnode ip from old wallet config

how many coins are in circulation?

at least 18 million currently already in circulation (this is roughly the number of coins from before the re-launch when Digit was still a scrypt algoritme coin)
that number is going up with the re-launch that was recently implemented which made a Digit a X13 algoritme coin.

Future for this coin seems very uncertain, Developer seems like a good guy but really needs to come up with something impressive for this coin.

This coin is a real enigma to me. We have a dev that seems really committed to the cause. Also seems intelligent, speaks English better than 99% of other devs. Quick to answer any questions in the thread etc. Staking is working bueatifully in the wallet and there's hints of anonymous messaging coming among other developments. Yet still there seems to be virtually no interest in the coin - whereas, there are still "country coins" being released by devs who can't string a proper sentence together and even insult the users trying to mine their coins - and these coins still generate 100x more interest!

It's a total mystery IMO!
With a higher interest, I would have invested. But the interest rate is not enough for me. I agree it is an otherwise interesting coin.

Edit: "Mining period lasts approximately three years. By the end of this period, mining reward has decreased to the minimum and Digit mining process will end. Once mining has ended, staking interest rate will start moving towards to monthly base rate of 1%" Does it mean no interest at all the first three years?

Monero: the first crytocurrency to bring bank secrecy and net neutrality to the blockchain.HyperStake: pushing the limits of staking.

The Digit PoW block reward starts with a multiplier of 29.2. The multiplier decreases daily by 0.08 and will reach a value of 0.08 in about one year.
Difficulty is driven by the network hash rate
Block reward is calculated by multiplying difficulty with the daily multiplier.
Here is an example of the Digit PoW block reward if the last block difficulty was 15 and we are at 30 days since the launch.
Block reward = 26.8 x 15 = 402 DIG.

Interest rate starts at 1% and increases each month by 1% until it reaches its peak of 12% by the end of the first year. Then, the mining will end and interest rate will start declining towards base rate of 1%.

Effective annual interest rate:

Year 1: 116%
Year 2: 91%
Year 3+: 13%

(end of quote of first page)

This means that we get 116% POS in the first year (remember its a POW & POS coin already), 91% second year and 13% in the third year.
If i read this correct..

Compilation doesn't work with Arch. My codes:
Code:
cd ~/cryptos && git clone git://github.com/DigitSF/Digit && cd Digit && qmake-qt4 Digit-qt.pro && make
and
Code:
cd ~/cryptos && git clone git://github.com/DigitSF/Digit && cd Digit && qmake-qt5 Digit-qt.pro && make
(the same with qmake-qt5 instead of qmake-qt4)

I don't mine, so mining is of no interest for me (but I understand it is for a lot of people).

any thoughts on these two points guys ?

- PoW Reward decreasing multiplier.
- Difficulty adjustable PoW mining reward.

The way i see it when there is a low network hashrate (below 1 GH), there will be a low difficulty which will make for low mining rewards.
This on itself will create less coins in circulation (18 million are now in circulation but that will not rise much with the low mining rewards)
which will trigger in time a rise in price  because the coin gets more scarce on the market. If the price keeps rising and rising at some point
it will attract public attention after which more ppl will start mining and more multipools will notice Digit. Thats when the difficulty will kick in and get
us higher mining rewards. This will increase public awareness and the coin's surviveability will have increased then.
Also the POS aspect of this coin will get ppl to hold their coins for at least the first year (exception are the daytraders or the big buyers and sellers who dont really
look at this POS aspect to start with)

Feedback pls Smiley

So, an increase in network hash results in higher block rewards? How does that help the value of this coin? Miners will just swoop, dump into the buy orders and destroy all support. People are sick of lining the pockets of miners who have no regard for a coin's prospects. What counters the inevitable miner dumps?

- you have the POS side of this coin which should keep miners more interested in keeping the coin (i'm from pre-launch and i havent sold 1 DIG so far because i'm interested in the POS and because this coin is nowhere near the price i have in mind for it)

- yes, on the market this coin will most likely fluctuate like crazy once really high difficulty will be reached ... but it will also have name regnonision by then so more
people will keep an eye out for this coin.

Nobody knows how this will work out in the end because this mining reward formula hasnt been tried out before with other coins. Its a rather unique approach.

You are totally missing the point of this coin. The value of this coin is designed to be more stable over long time period, not jump up and down like other coins.
Ofc price will be volatile for probably 3 to 6 monts, but will likely stabilize later.

The whole point of the one good currency is to be as stable as possible in long term period. This coin aims exactly that goal.
If there will be high demand then it results as price going higher, which results in miners switching to Digit and selling mined coins for profit, which results in more supply and semand will ease.

There is still profit to be made with this coin. Profit will come from mining when demand rises and from holding (interest) when demand is low.

Soon network will ban those old wallet IPs as peers. So only updated wallets stay connected.

I just sent 5K DIG to Bittrex and they appeared as pending in 30 seconds. So Bittrex is definately on the correct fork.
