I'm on version 0.6.0.6-beta, Win7

I launch it and after a couple minutes it crashes.

In the client window is the error message:
EXCEPTION:22DbRunRecoveryException
DbEnv::txn_checkpoint: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
C:\Program Files(x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe in ThreadDumpAddress()

Another window pops up:
 Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

It complains that the app is crashing.

I reinstalled to 6.0.6, not quite sure what version I had before that.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

ugh, never mind. I feel like such a n00b. Smiley

I replaced my Bitcoin folder (in my AppData) with a backup, and it runs fine.  So there was a corrupt file in there somewhere.

Bleh.  So lesson learned for anyone reading along.  keep backups and try that first. Cheesy
