Is it only possible to solo mine this or does it work with pool mining?

as far as i know there are no pools for FCN yet. i wonder if MRO open-source pool supports merged mining.

tired of identical bitcoin forks? try out BCN - no ASICs, no transaction tracking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512747.0

I don't think that merged mining is a easy thing to implement to the pool. It's not like it's another BCN fork. (almost :>)

Is it possible to pool mine on the donor chain while solo mining the FCN for a possible bonus? Difficulty is pretty high now and I'm not sure reverting to solo-mining MRO is worth it.

We need this coin on an exchange!

It is on the exchange - swaphole.com

Unfortunately, it is not possible at the moment. I'm trying to develop a pool, but there is not much time for it. I conctacted MRO pool developer and he said he'll see what he can do about the MM option.

Cheers. Smiley

Let's hope developers will be able to create a MM option for their pool - that would be a blast for FCN.

Today I first time heard about the FCN. Can you tell me competitive advantages of this coin

In addition to what the other posters said, other advantages include:

  • Anonymous transactions using cryptonote technology
  • CPU-based. I see that as an advantage because many people are not doing this, giving you a greater potential to getting coins
  • Can be merged mined (MM) with other coins

Using Bitcoins involves  anonymous transactions, isn't it? What then is the advantage of FCN?  Huh

No, Bitcoin is not anonymous. It's pseudo-anonymous: https://bitcoin.org/en/you-need-to-know

Fantomcoin is a true anonymous coin.

Thank you, you have opened my eyes!

Now I see FCN is  better than Bitcoin, IMO

When I run the GUI miner it shows that it's running but when I type "show_hr' in the daemons it says "Mining is not started".

How can I solve this problem?

Is it possible to merge mine more than two coins?

Do I just add the extra node & wallet address for each coin or can I only merge mine two coins?

Thx

@ amphibian

One little question...

Mining using the daemon and wallet worries me a bit. I see a lot of those "Connect failed..." TBH one of that and then the "Connecting to..." Really small amount of yellow and green text.
Is it normal?

Asking cause the QCN and MRO daemons are acting a lot less like that... Worrying about efficency of mining.

Those have nothing to do with the wallet. They involve connections of the p2p network. It really shouldn't produce so many messages for normal events such as a p2p connection failing (since nodes come and go constantly, and many aren't even reachable behind NAT, etc.), but all of the cryptonote coins are rather rough at this point.
