When you don't want ThreadStakeMinter, add:
Stake=0
..to your .conf file.
It will stop from mining PoS blocks.

That make sense. Thanks for letting me know. We should put together a tutorial or help documentation.  There is no way inexperienced users like myself figure out these settings, I did not even know there is a .conf file. My understanding was from this thread that the community aims a wide adoption of the coin. Wide adoption would require people new to the crypto currency universe and they need a better documentation or explaining how to use the software what is what on the UI.

I also stepped into VRC with a few btc. But i have to admit...not much info on their website about the coin itself. Yes, the innovation is there, but no road map or something. Can it be found somewhere? Of course i can read this 211 pages topic, but as an investor it would be nice if there was a sort of white paper to read quickly whats the coin all about.

But from what i could see, the innovation is very nice and unique. Personally i think it is very low valued right now, so that is why i stepped in. I am a long time investor and hope i have more luck then with Silkcoin. That was a sick road to hell Sad

I very much agree with you. As for me, this the only coin I invest, willing to invest more and I like everything about this project, community and of course the developers. It seems a really vibrant initiative and I guess the coin has a huge potential. I hope the community and the stakeholders take our comments about the lack of user friendly documentation/help material constructively. (If the info is on the 193 page then such a massive document is not user friendly help material).

Is there some bounty for promoting this coin? I am a website developer and can create websites in a flash. I also did that for silkcoin, like silkcoin(dot)nl (don't want to spam the shitcoin). Is there a bounty list for promotion?

...and suggest some ideas for bounties, too!

Any word on when pool.vericoin.info will be back online?

bump

Not sure, hopefully tonight. Unfortunately we have a lot on our plate today with VeriBit's full release for tomorrow too.

This is pretty out of date. Our bounty fund is dry. We need to collect some more bounties for projects.

FEATURE Requested:
Pnosker, can you add 'Total Isolation Mode' to the wallet when staking our coins? The way a whitelist firewall works, applying the most hardening of all so we're sure all ports are blocked EXCEPT the application one's for staking purposes. No surfing whatsoever or data in/out else would be possible that way. This feature would come in handy only when you install the staking wallet on a separate PC, for security purposes when we hold a large amount of coins.

I think a firewall would be much safer than our code running a firewall.

here is my logic:
XC went up to 480k sats. they have 6 million coins.

so VRC  26 million is roughly 4 times that.
this coin seems to be superior, and judging by the fact that people like it as much as they did xc,

i think 100k sats is a fair normal  price, but I think 50k within a few days is a more appropriate, conservative estimate.

the main thing i like about this coin is the distribution, according to the richlist there aren't any monster holders who can control the price. that is good.

Kewla, I must say, I am honored to see someone quoting me.

Next time, give me credit for my wordz =D hahaha

When you don't want ThreadStakeMinter, add:
Stake=0
..to your .conf file.

Dude. why would you want to stop the POS mining?  Do you not like collecting interest?  The wallet is the easiest in the world to use.  Keep it unencrypted and your coins will begin collecting interest automatically.  or Encrypt your wallet and then unlock it with your passphrase when you open it to collect the interest.

What else do you need to know?  Even a 7 year old could mint Vericoins!

Yeah the 7 years could, but when you are 72 like me you do things very differently :-))

I never said I don't want to stake interest - all I was asking how to enable the disabled menu item so how to lock the wallet. I just started panicking because some amount was next to the Stake label which was not spendable, so I wanted to know how to stop the whole staking in case if suddenly I need the money to pay for my medication to keep me awake (because I am exhausted from this crypt thing ans I have been trading only 3 days) ...  And you see, you are confusing me even more :-))) you said " Keep it unencrypted and your coins will begin collecting interest automatically" while the setting is the opposite, you need to encrypt it to collect interest automatically.

IF you encrypted your wallet with a passphrase, then you need to "Unlock" it, in order for the staking process to begin. If however, you didn't set a passphrase, then you don't need to worry about anything. Hope that makes sense?

Yes it does, thanks! That's what I did, I have encrypted the wallet and unlocked the wallet by clicking on the Unlock wallet menu item. I guess the disabled "Unlock wallet" menu item does not matter, it just remains disabled once the wallet is encrypted. Sorry for the silly questions.
