There is a lot of interest in the ability to use paypal to purchase bitcoin. And a lot of resistance from Paypal. VRC group is looking to skirt the issue to combine the two worlds in a way that the public wants, but maybe not so much what the underworld wants.

Normal people are not comfortable with being ripped off, which seems to be a common use for crypto.

On the other hand people are comfortable with familiarity, which is part of the reason for such resistance to the uncommon actions of the devs.

If they succeed in creating their dream, it may simply be a breaking off from the actual crypto community while remaining a portal to the crytpo world. A portal always carries a two-way connotation.

From my perspective the resistance is largely about a loss of control. If VRC was to evolve beyond the scene why would that have any effect whatsoever on the rest of the underground altcoin scene? Do they really rely on the actions of Vericoin? Funny indeed.
