It seems that name only is biggest change to the surge of alts that are flooding the world.

Might I suggest we just take all of the good names off the table? Start as many dead projects as possible with as many names as you can think of.

The secrete to pollution is dilution.

There's a simple solution to get rid of crappy alts: stop mining them. Devs only create them because they know they can make a little money off pumping and dumping them. People shouldn't mine any coin that has any pre-mine. Ignore them completely and they'll fail on launch.

How would we be able to tell the difference from the alt coins that are being created now? Smiley

Probably miners also make some little money when pumping takes place. Hence they go for mining over & over.

If someone has enough hashpower, they should set up a thread and take bounties to kill coins.  Basically list all of the coins that they would have the hashpower to 51% attack, with a btc address next to each one, and when a certain coin hits a bounty amount, they kill it.

I would imagine this would get a lot of support and bounties would be fulfilled quite quickly, and we could do away with these useless alts.

I'd like to see coins have a zero block reward  before either a certain block count or specific date which is after the launch of the coin.  This would give people a chance to setup and start mining before there is any value in the coin.  If there isn't enough interest up front enough people won't join in for the zero value mine period and the coin will be DOA.

It's a 100% free market, no one can stop this.

Give it a few months and enough people will stop throwing BTC at rip off coins when they continually get nothing out of it. Alt coins are one of the most insane bubbles where there has to be people losing money hand over fist.

It would also help if the exchanges didn't keep adding them.

That doesnt really kill them though because as soon as the 51% stops the badfork if there was one stops, and any bad blocks can be rolled back and removed.

The best way to kill the coins you dont like is to not acknowledge their existence.. but the sad thing is where ever there is prmis of great riches there will be an eager person willing to take you up on that promise. This is due to everyone not having their needs met.

So  I guess that means if you want scams to disappear, meet everyone's needs.

Except most of those scam coins tend to give away millions of free coins to gain publicity from users to spread the word so a lot of people easily jump in for the ride and then once the coins gains a big following and value then the dev dumps and runs.

Yeah, but giving away thousands of worthless coins is still worthless. People need to realise that and stop claiming free but valueless coins, but I guess there's always going to be a fresh wave of naive newbs who just think they're going to get rich quick off the next Bitcoin that the dev has promised them it will be.
