Is there any way to petition for the SCAMMER tag to stay, particularly on Nefario?

Automated replacement with negative trust from a known account?

It would be nice if some account on the default trust list could flag each of the accounts with negative trust of "Had a forum SCAMMER tag".

This account would have to be automated, since it would be a lot of work.

I'd do it, but alas I'm not on the default list.

Finally, i don't have to see that scary dank anymore Roll Eyes the guy is a pirate ? scammer?

These accounts are not being deleted, just their scammer tags (the SCAMMER and XXXXX bellow the username). As for Dank, I'm not sure but I think he failed his part in a trade (50 some btc?). On the other hand, occasionally he comes up with stuff like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=383960.0.

Well, while I'm glad to see my undeserved tag go, hopefully my attempt to make restitution to the supposed 18 victims (far more than actually posted, btw) will encourage Theymos or malevolent to adjust the trust rating.

I might remove OldScammerTag from DefaultTrust at some point, though. I don't have time to look into cases like Aahzman's in detail, so I don't want to keep saying that he's guilty forever.

I put a proposal up in Scam Acc's, token restitution.  We'll see how many of those accounts respond.

I'm assuming there is no way for users to retain their scammer tag if they want to keep it? Sad
And just why exactly would you want to keep it? Sentimental reasons?
Maybe just being unique like the Donator and VIP ranks, except that you get it for stealing rather than donating.

This!

It seems to me that you are proud of your scams and scammer tag...  Undecided

Yet tradefortress and BFL operators are still allowed to post freely on the forum. What has this forum come to...
Scammers are allowed to keep posting because there is more of a chance that more information will come out of them or that they decide to return whatever they scammed if they have the chance to speak up or chat with others.

But still,  they should have a scammer tag too.

But still,  they should have a scammer tag too.

I think D&T summed it up pretty well

I don't quite understand why these need to be removed. I think having those and the trust system would work fine together, the trust system can be used like normal but, the scammer tags are issued when it has been confirmed that the person scammed. What we are effectively doing it removing a layout of protection.

Obviously, you justified giving them the tag in the first place so I don't know why you would want to remove it now. Any reasons or would you just prefer to use the trust system which isn't moderate unlike the scammer tags.

The reason why is because it creates a perception problem (you seem to be affected).  Nobody gets a scammer tag anymore, ever, under any circumstances.   So not having a scammer tag doesn't mean someone isn't a scammer, it just means they scammed after the forum stopped giving those tags out.  Essentially they are obsolete yet by remaining they are confusing.

When someone sees scammer tags this may lead someone to believe (like yourself) that they are still being used and thus not having a scammer tag is a good sign when the reality is that someone not having a scammer tag alone means nothing.

This.  It isn't just prefer, they never moderate scammmer tags anymore.

nope, he's already stated that he is god. and you can too!

maybe this is a call for personal responsibility? if a guy with negative trust makes an offer to you, it's your job to looking him and make sure that he/she is not a scammer.

Can you give a hidden scammer tag to people who reach a certain overall trust score below say -100 automatically, so that massive scammers such as TradeFortress or just people who the community think of as untrustworthy can not delete and edit their posts? This is especially important now that TF is back under the name Free Hugs (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=67058).

You think that is TF and not that he sold the account?  I don't think it's TF.
