I'm folding with ~110k PPD
But in the teamlist it only shows 50k PPD http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=224497
Why is there so a big difference?

50k is how many points you've gotten so far not your ppd.

For the record as of 13.5.2014 there is no working exchange for curecoin.

Bittrex listed wrongly (no cure there)
Scifiexchange down (bad code)
and the last one have zero in it.

ASIC resistance is a feature.  How much that matters now is debatable, probably not much at all. But the proof-of-work for Curecoin is (mostly) folding and folding has no ASICS being developed for it yet as it's one of a kind, making Curecoin ASIC resistant (apart from the 20% that goes to the SHA256 miners).

And as bardacuda pointed out, if ASICS were developed for folding, that would be great for the advancement of science anyway.

If you'd like to calmly explain how this is not true please explain, otherwise I ask you to refrain from insulting me.

Because folding is the realm of REAL SCIENCE, not herp derp I can mint internet moneys by calculating 1000000000000 sha hashes per second. The projects on FAH are coded specifically for different research projects running code specifically written by the person doing the project. There are tons of projects running on FAH so there could never been a FPGA, much less an ASIC made that could do fuckall to help. These projects also end and are replaced by a long list of newer projects, researching newer proteins, smashing them using newer methods, calculated by using brand new code written by a different researcher.

This is bioinformatics. If there was something as simple as needing such a generic algorithm to cure cancer, it would have been done already. Get out in the world and learn some real shit and this would have simply been obvious. 80% is folding, plain and simple. Not asic resistant algorithm. It's FOLDING. This is why I said it's redundant.

Since you probably still don't understand. Folding is not asic resistant, it's asic proof. As is your car. As is your toaster. Maybe even your mom. Go ask your mom if she's asic proof.

With a 270x I'm getting very poor performance.  gpu:0:Hawaii [Radeon R9 200 series].  In the work queue the ETA on the gpu is 10 days while my cpu is about 2 and a half hours.  Any suggestions?  Is my card just not powerful enough for this type of work?
turn off one core on your cpu. Your gpu will need it ...Advanced settings. under SLOT click on the cpu and change -1 to a number less than your cpu cores...

Before you try to fix something that's probably not even broken, I refer you to my previous reply:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=603757.msg6707438#msg6707438

That said, you do get optimal performance by keeping 1 core/thread free for each GPU, plus one extra thread/core. I have 2 GPUs and get optimal perfomance using only 3 of my 6 CPU cores.

@cecilbdemented

I see your problem...you only waited about 10 minutes or so. It takes ~30 mins to calculate a proper ETA after you start a work unit. Until then your GPU will only show something like 1679 PPD, and an ETA of 10.20 days, and the progress bar will not show your true progress. If you look in the log, however, it will tell you your progress on your WU, and you can calculate your actual ETA from that.

Just look at the timestamp at some % progress, and then again when it is 1% higher, and multiply that amount of time by 100 to get your total ETA. In this case, if you had continued folding until you reached 3% progress, you could have used the difference in time between 2% and 3% to calculate.

13:54:30:WU01:FS01:FahCore 0x17 started
13:54:30:WU01:FS01:0x17:  Found a checkpoint file
13:57:02:WU01:FS01:0x17:Completed 125000 out of 5000000 steps (2%) <---- Actual progress

14:06:16:FS01:Paused
14:06:16:FS01:Shutting core down
14:06:17:WU01:FS01:0x17:WARNING:Console control signal 1 on PID 3764
14:06:17:WU01:FS01:0x17:Exiting, please wait. . .
14:06:17:WU01:FS01:0x17:Lost lifeline PID 4308, exiting
14:06:17:WU01:FS01:0x17:ERROR:103: Lost client lifeline
14:06:17:WU01:FS01:0x17:Folding@home Core Shutdown: CLIENT_DIED
14:06:17:WU01:FS01:FahCore returned: INTERRUPTED (102 = 0x66)

14:06:25:FS01:Unpaused
14:06:25:WU01:FS01:Starting
14:06:25:WU01:FS01:FahCore 0x17 started
14:06:26:WU01:FS01:0x17:  Found a checkpoint file
14:0......yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah

I had this same 'problem' about a month ago when I was getting my rig ready to be able to fold, and I see a lot of other people posting about this 'issue'. Maybe the OP or the setup guide could be edited to say that the ETA will take a half hour or so to update?...and that seeing 1679 PPD and 10.20 ETA is normal until then. It might save a lot of questions and confusion among new folders thinking something is wrong when there isn't.

Yeah, you're absolutely right, I just had to be patient.  I'm used to using cgminer and watching my hash rate immediately shoot up but this is a whole different thing.  It took a few hours but the numbers are now reflecting what I expected.

@ChristianVirtual you are a big mac fan right?  Wink

That's not a mac .app, that's a folder called curecoin.app.
nor does it contain any of the usual graphic resources that a qt wallet build normally would.
Than if you do rename it curecoin.app (making it launch-able), its icon is grumpy meme cat going bleh, and when launched it seems to do nothing.

malware, trolling or dropboxing the wrong thing error?
clamxav reads 0 virii and running it doesn't prompt for an admin password so limited harmfulness, but still not a mac wallet Sad

Pretty sure thats not it. If u want to not fold, just click right click cpu and pause it. Then yes your ppd will drop (cause a decent cpu will get about 5k ppd,) so logical that your pd will drop. If you only have one card then should be more then capable to get both cou and gpu folding. But to ensure gpu is getting max amount of work then you could go into settings and change the cpu slot from -1 to 2 or 3.
explanation : Just like when mining where one would set :
Code:
setgenerate true -1  // -1 standing for use all cores// let program decide
you could here change the cpu -1 to your number of cores -minus cores u want to keep free. Example : i have quad core, so i would set to 3, so i have one core free to feed my gpu. (also, posting log, try to use " code" much more readable and saves post space.

As for your low ppd on gpu, my guesses...in order of probability #1 you havent waited long enough. Takes at least half an hour to and hour for gpu ppd to come close to what your getting for real. #2 cpu not feeding gpu enough.Click on pause on cpu and wait again for a reasonable time (1 hour+) In both cases, use a proragm like afterburner or something to look at gpu load. If gpu load is reaching max, then means your probably just impatient.. #3, drivers are not up to date. Amd Cat 14.4 (the updated/corrected version, since first was buggy will give best ppd yield. But still buggy/sometimes wont respond to regular mining..... so install at own judgement.

the amount of coins paid out needs to be upped. I mean for 5 rigs each approx 300ppd you are getting perhaps 15 coins a day? how can 1 btc donation get you 700 days mining ? crazy.
I suggest amount of cure coins x 10 now and up the coins per day paid out.
Your numbers are way off. I got ~24.7 CURE for one day with 120k PPD. You should be able to get over 250 CURE with 1.5M PPD. With that rate it would take ~40 days to get 10k CURE.
Not sure where you get the 15/day number from, or 700 days.
@ crypto :Most likely 15 cure is payout for part days work.. Like maybe couple hours of folding when ppd /curecoin got its daily update.
@baracuda : year back at ipo, investors that gave 1btc, will get or got total of 10k. So by cryptos calculations 15 coins a day would equal 10.000 /15 = 666.67 days ~ 700days

I just got this in my inbox , a user has submitted a mac wallet, I have not tested or done a virus scan on it!!! If someone could please send this file through the ringer for virus testing then I think MAC users will be grateful.

Hi, I love your coin!  I've been waiting for a coin with this concept, it's long overdue.  I would like to contribute a Mac wallet to the project.

@ChristianVirtual you are a big mac fan right?  Wink

That's not a mac .app, that's a folder called curecoin.app.
nor does it contain any of the usual graphic resources that a qt wallet build normally would.
Than if you do rename it curecoin.app, its icon is grumpy meme cat going bleh.

malware, trolling or dropboxing the wrong thing error?
clamxav reads 0 virii and running it doesn't prompt for an admin password so limited harmfulness, but still not a mac wallet Sad

No, just incompetence.   Smiley  I must have uploaded the wrong thing.  Give me a few minutes and I'll fix it.

Lol bleh. What was it then? 'Cos I launched it on my 'safe' mac and now i don't know if i need a restart or to forcequit something.

It should have just been a zip file with the source code and the wallet app.  The grumpy cat bleh image was what was in the original source code download.  I thought I had changed it to the Curecoin logo but apparently the original image stuck.

Anyway, even though it's working ok on my Mavericks Mac, I reuploaded the app to Dropbox and had my colleague try to run it on Lion and it just crashes, so I'm removing it from Dropbox.  Hopefully somebody with a little more experience can get a working Mac wallet for everyone soon.

I would imagine you don't need to do anything on your Mac...if it's still trying to run a force quit should take care of it, and a restart definitely will.

Yeah, building in mavericks sometimes no likey lion. If you build it in lion it should be fine on both, though.
