Hello,

I am very new to Bitcoins (as of yesterday), but I see the potential. I had an idea to start a "lottery" site (though very different lotteries from the ones currently available but the same in setup). I understand that to automatically send bitcoins to the site users who won, I would be required to have a web host that runs "bitcoind"? The host I have used numerous times in the past and am happy with is hostmonster, but they don't offer any of this sort of service. can anyone suggest a good cheap reliable hosting service that includes bitcoind or JSON-RPC?

Thanks

Riko

if you want to run bitcoind, you'd need a dedicated server or vps.

if you're wanting shared hosting, i doubt you'd be able to share a bitcoin wallet.

also, hosts don't 'include' json-rpc... that's just something that you code yourself (eg. in php), which talks to the running instance of bitcoind.

You dont have to run bitcoind on the same server as your site.

I think you can google bitVPS to find a bitcoin vps.

I made this easy, just make lotto's on http://bitcashlotto.com/ and drive traffic to the ones you make, set a fee for your take and you are good to go.

you could.

but if you've never had experience securing your own server before, then bitcoind is probably the last thing you want to have running on it.

Riko,

Yes, you sure can take a PC, install CentOS on it (or any other Linux distro) and then add some control panel software (ISPConfig / OpenPanel) and connect it to the web (even from home, if you have static IP address).

The thing is that a small VPS can cost you $5 per month and get you all you need.

Contact me if you need further assistance.
