I read back a couple of pages and see someone else asked the same question, I assume now that my first outgoing transaction to myself needs to hit 1440 before I start forging?

As long as your outgoing transaction to yourself means you sent some NFD from one address to another, or you registered an alias or sent a message, the "block clock" is ticking. Any action which takes a fee off you counts as an outgoing transaction.

The block where the forger snapped up the first fee you paid is the block where the clock starts ticking. Once the blockchain reached that block number +1'440, you're set to forge yourself. Until then you'll see the message "Your effective balance is zero, you cannot forge." when you click the "Not Forging" link just below your Account ID in the upper left.

Attention to VPS clients :

If u set up a node for this coin on ure VPS, @ first nice support for the community  Smiley but if i look @ the peer list, many of the nodes going offline/ online. i think many people cant get the process of the client 24/7.

and if u only do ./run.sh on ure VPs and then logout ... the client/ node stop his work and the node is offline !

so please try something like this :

1.   ./run.sh &          <- the '&' is important
2.   disown -h           <- important to let the client work even if u logout from ure SSH session
3. exit

4. check ure IP of ure note in the peer list of ure local NFD client to be on the safe side, that ure node is running and helps the community   Wink

another opportunity is using screen. Screen is a program which allows shell sessions to attach and detach:

start client with:
screen -L ./run.sh
detach session with CTRL-A-d

coming back to your vps:
screen -rd

option "-L" to create a logfile

Just to let everyone know, I just registered and tested the new NFD development fund wallets. Once for Bitcoin, one for Nxt and of course one for NFD. Smiley'
I have to admit to being more easygoing than MaWo. He chose 100 random characters for passphrases, I only chose 96. Wink
Here are the official NFD development wallet addresses:
Quote
BTC address: 18KAi7XzLXrsCQCwJk3Fk6u9acdGuAW4it
Nxt address: NXT-Z9UE-YAPN-RL7Z-8G3XZ
NFD address: NFD-9PHZ-HTPL-JVBR-AB73P

I suggest to transfer all unconfirmed coins with unknown users into the development account.

We decide to wait at least a month for claims.
After that period we will move all not successful claimed NFD coins to developer bounty account.

Forged Balance: 3!!!!

Great!  Grin

You can start forging after 1440 confirmations of your first outbound transaction. If you didn't make any transactions yet and are just viewing the balance of your account, you must first send a small amount of coins to yourself to enhance the security of your account to sort of 'confirm opening the account'. After 1440 confirmations of that first transaction, your account is freely accessible and you are allowed to forge, as well as get an automatic security upgrade for your account.

Think of it sort of like getting your new ATM/credit card in the mail and activating it with your first swipe. In the case of NFD, you need your *first incoming transaction and first outgoing transaction* to be confirmed 1440 times, each, then your account will be fully authenticated and active.

Why should we all forge right now? Besides collecting transaction fees (similar to mining for other cryptos without all the hardware costs), running our clients and forging is helping to strengthen our growing network by providing nodes and access points all over the world. Going to bed? Leave your client open! The strength of a new crypto lies completely in the power of its community, so let's strengthen the network and finish up this amazingly successful launch period!
I'm forging too.

Hi folks!

I have high expectations for this coin and hope the coomunity do too, and therefore i'm looking forward to see this coin rise to an price range of  0.00004000 -  0.00010000 satoshi fairly quickly!

NXT coin has over 11000 satoshi on Poloniex at the time of writing this post, so NFD coin can't be any less.

We as a community need to have high ambitions to drive this coin up in price and not sell it for paperclips and bubblegum...

I would recommend not to wait on a slow signon progress from Poloniex, but get this coin quickly up on other suitable quality exchanges, so we can start to drive the price fast upwards,
so it can benefit all of the coin holders and the dev team. Use the bounties actively, to hire all the extra development/art/media personnel you need, to quickly get out unique developments for this coin.
The competition is fierce, and we want NFD to stand up and shine!

The dev team has really turned this around from an scamaffair to an fair distributed coin ,but the cryptoworld is an cynical and noisy place, where several new coins appear daily and we risk getting
drowned among all the other coins out there, despite the excellent turnaround, if the progression of new unique developments slows down. Remember, in the cryptoworld the measure of success, is an high and stable coin price.

It wont matter if there is alot of nice features on a coin if nobody use it because the price has died away. We have seen countless examples of that, since altcoins started to appear.

So i wish the dev team a speedy and healthy progression, making this coin a success among the rubble out there!

being as a hallmark node, i can't see my client on the get peers list?is that correct?

Hallmarked nodes are visible in peers list.
You shouldn't see your own peer in peers list. That makes no sense.
You need a second peer.

you could use http://wallet.nfdcoin.com:8876/admin.html
and check with "get Peers" whether you peer is in the list.
This peer list is not a full list. It includes only known peers for wallet.nfdcoin.com.
Many peers could be already offline.

You need a 2nd node to see the first one. A node cannot be the peer from itself.
