can you confirm sources on this? I've never trusted anything to do anything for me, try and use QT wallets as much as possible etc.. Now I'm getting to the point where I need to be able to track everything nice & easy.. doges driving me mad here!

If you dont trust it you should not use it.
Else, you are free to spy it with wireshark, checkout the system by hand, do what ever you like with it. It's clean.
The source: its just a simple vm with notejs installed and a fresh cryptrade install from github.

yes, it uses the data from cryptotrader.
for info on cryptrade itself please refer to its github project.
i'm not the creator of cryptrade.
I'm just a user who found out that many others (non technical users, or lazy developers) have difficulties setting up a vm with nodejs.
Thats why i've made this available, this vm is just ready to go (after you have setup the api keys).

I dont know anything about the algorithm EMA which is used by defaut but - after i adjusted some values like the sell and buy thresholds
the bot started buying and selling ...
