When does the pool payout?

I was mining when a block was found but it doesn't say that I've been paid anything.

Noob questions I know.

From my experience - blocks dont get paid till its confirmed.... ie say pool found block 100, but coin requires 100 confirms... so payout wont happen till someone finds block 201. etc

dont expect payouts to be huge as diff is high and hashrate is low. For 200hs for around 14hrs mining - my payout was 1.5 MRO

I mine therefor I am Smiley - WIN : WcLLYcZfHQAMMVwiaAtMECZQh1YfCPw88g

Hey.
I always follow your posts super resistant Tongue
Joined your pool. First coin I've ever tried to mine.
Good luck to us!

Sometimes I talk crap so be careful.
It is a good coin to start and learn mining.

One question.
Does launch.bat need your wallet's password where it says password = x
Is that a dumb question?
I left it as an X and the miner seems to be working. It says "Share submitted successfully" every now and then.

No, the password can be anything but it must be something. It is the way the miner was written, it need a password so just put x.

The pool payout asap.
In rare case the block can be orphaned, we will not get paid. It happen when at least two people claim the same block but only one can be chosen.
When the pool find a block, it cannot send the transaction straight because the new block must be confirmed many times. You need to wait.

So, total crypto-amateur here. Just set up my extra desktop to mine, http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/ is telling me I'm getting a hash rate of around 40-60 H/sec. I've been running it for a couple hours now and haven't seen any payout.

Am I wasting my time?

Nothing is wasted. As soon as you start mining, the pool server record your address and keep track of how much you contribute.
You get paid when a block is found and confirmed multiple times.

The more people on the pool the more regularly you get paid.
Blocks need to not be orphaned and confirmed.
Check this page for informations : http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/#pool_blocks

can i use directly the wallet from the exchange when mining?

I don't think so. The exchange need to know who send the coins but if you send directly from the pool there is no way to know who send it.
Most of the time, exchanges use a common address for all incoming transaction and then credit your account.
You may ask the exchange staff directly.

Alternative method added

You can try the new GUI client (beta) to check your wallet balance and even mine (I haven't tried).

Of course.

Yes. You have 8 or 16 threads depending if your CPU is one core/one thread or one core/two threads.
So it is 8 or 16 instances you should try.
Check the pool hashspeed with your address to find the best combination.

Try opening more commands.
If you have 4 cores, try opening 8 command line.
If you have 6 cores, try opening 12 command line.
And so on...

Once it's done, check your hashrate for few minutes on the pool. The hashrate will fluctuate, it is normal because it is an approximation.
