mining altcoins using pools with KNC Jupiter

Hi all, having some strange issues mining alt sha256 coins with my Jupiter.   Seems like I can connect to some pools (BTCGuild   stratum. btcguild.com:3333 and mazacoin   stratum1.suchpool.pw:3342)  but have had no luck mining other sha256 coins that don't have stratum as part of their ip address.   I've tried a bunch of things, but no joy.   Any help appreciated.
