As everyone knows one of the major problems with Bitcoin economy is hoarding. The idea of this poll is to find out whether the lack of spending in the BTC economy is mainly due to the lack of acceptance of Bitcoin payments, or is it that people can actually buy a good deal of stuff that they need with BTC but choose not to.

I haven't used my bitcoins to buy any stuff as of yet mainly because locally where I am it is not accepted anywhere and online stores, I just can't get myself around on trusting them, therefore, so far I only hodl my btc or buy other altcoins with it or gamble with very little amount.

"The nature of Bitcoin is such that once version 0.1 was released, the core design was set in stone for the rest of its lifetime." -- Satoshi

I prefer to use them with businesses that do not convert them to fiat. There isn't a lot of them yet obviously but I am not in a hurry to spend a bunch either.

I bought plane tickets for my gf with bitcoin! That was actually the one and only time i used my BTC.

Where did you bought plane tickets with bitcoin?
I don't think any one selling plane tickets for btc right now if this is available then please post here link hope many members can use this service  Cheesy

I got interested in this too so i found this

http://www.travelforcoins.com/
it says you can simply book it through expedia.. hmm.

Does it look like a scam? any thoughts?

It's not a scam. Matt and Riley are great guys. All of their sites, travel, pizza, gifts and hotels have a very small markup compared to similar services.

Thanks a lot! Im considering using this now.

I don't worry about Bitcoin adoption anymore. I sincerely believe we've hit critical mass. The number of businesses that are accepting bitcoins is growing every day and the network has withstood quite a few issues over the last few years. In addition, while your average Joe may not really understand Bitcoin, he's probably heard of it and might even be curious about it.

When I started BitBrew, I wanted to encourage Bitcoin hodlers to participate in this economy and there weren't many places to do it. Now, if there's a niche still waiting to be filled, I can almost guarantee someone's about to fill it. What's needed now are more ways for people to earn BTC and that's one of the reasons I teamed up with the Bees Brothers to start the Bitcoin General Store; I'm always on the lookout for producers of quality goods willing to accept bitcoins so that we might offer them a spot on our virtual shelves.

Still around.

There are not many stores where we can shop with Bitcoins directly. Some online retailers such as crypto-thrift are there, but they don't have the variety. Also, retailers like Overstock are more expensive when compared to others like Amazon and Ebay. A second option is to buy gift cards using Bitcoins and to shop through them. But I don't want to use a third party.

You can use http://www.bspend.com/ and quickly find the best/cheapest deal for some product that you search for (few million products in the database). It covers Overstock, but also cheaper Dinodirect etc (only Dino ships from Hong Kong I think).

BTC direct sites are fairly rare in Australia however you can buy off-road buggies or convert to a govt issued (postal service) vanilla VISA card and fill it BTC <> fiat

The good thing is every purchase you make increases the incentive for other companies to get onboard with accepting bitcoins.

Wow... Right now some 2,494,102 items are listed. Excellent. This can be the Bitcoin-version for Ebay.  Grin

Quite a lot of variety is there, and some of the deals are really cheap as well.

I was planning to buy some more, but last night I was forced to spend a bit. It's hot as balls here right now, and the lights went out in the middle of cooking dinner. We do not use credit cards or even a bank (except for cashing checks). I couldn't find my wallet in the dark. My partner says, "what about those bitcoin thingies?"

Luckily I'd recently bought a few coins that I left in my exchange account. I go to gyft and buy a 250$ equivalent hotel card and secure us a nice suite with whirlpool at a local hotel. $100  card for a local restaurant, and another $100 card for another restaurant with a nicer bar. What would have been a boring, hot, and humid evening turned into a wonderful date night that wasn't planned.

Now I guess I need to figure out my basis and report gains or losses from my purchases.  Huh

I do spend them on occasion but only with a corresponding purchase from coin base. The little bit of extra cost in transaction fees is worth it to me.

yea, u can find almost anything!
i was just playing golf the other day and the instructor mentioned some rangefinder and particular brand as well, i thought i'd give it a try, though i wasn't expecting to find it, i put "bushnell golf" into search and bam, found the exact model! http://www.bspend.com/products/bitcoinshop.us-bushnell-xgc-golf-gps-rangefinder
at cebexpo one guy came to try out the search, i asked him "what do u want?"..he said he wants to buy an island as a joke, so we searched for "island" sorted by price and got this http://www.bspend.com/products/bitpremier.com-view-442-32-hectares-13-of-island-southwest-lombok still, it's not really a whole island, just a part of it haha .. hopefully when btc is worth more it will buy the whole island Wink
so u guys have no excuse for using fiat! Tongue

Still waiting for a single person on craigslist or bitcoinclassifieds.net to purchase any one of my hundreds of items for sale that I accept BTC for.

Bitcoins are for holding and speculation not for spending. If you spend them you're doing it wrong.
