I recently noticed that my mining rig is hashing at a lower rate that usual. Does that have to do with the change in difficulty? Thanks

Difficulty change will not change your rig's hashrate. It will only affect the rate of your rig finding blocks.

No, difficulty change doesn't affect miner hashrate. What miner are you currently running and what pool are you using?

No, difficulty change doesn't affect miner hashrate. What miner are you currently running and what pool are you using? Important thing is, how are you monitoring your hashrate? Monitoring it from a pool's readout isn't exactly accurate, you should be reading the hashrate from your miner.

I'm in slushs pool and I was reading the hash rate that the pool is showing, but now I feel some comfort knowing that the pools readout isn't accurate as you said. Thank you.

Pool hash rates readings are calculated from the number of shares submitted by your miner in a certain time. So if you have a lot of accepted in a short time, the reading will go up but if you go on a streak with fewer shares being submitted, the reading will drop. Best way to read your hashrate is directly from the miner.

isn't local hashrate calculated in the same way?

I actually have no idea lol, for this reason i was supposing that is calculated in the same way of the pool, just more accurate cause the process is local

That's right, but what is the logic behind the ASIC estimations, if it doesn't calculate them from an average of the submitted shares? It shouldn't. You can start a miner up with a difficulty of 1024 and see it hashing at (in the case of Scrypt) 600 KH/s for a minute or two before submitting a share. I'm assuming SHA is the same way, so they aren't really related.
