if this did happen, there'd still be an issue with our human being with an earth-like immune system.. they'd be in a new ecosystem and would be exposed to diseases that their bodies are not prepared to fight against.

Seriously, there should be a statement that you agree to when you first open a web browser the first time. One of the stipulations being, you don't believe anything you read on the rag known as the huffington post. All they do is publish useless articles with click bait headlines.

It may not be necessary to print humans in order to colonize another planet. Assuming of course, this would be at all possible. By the time we have this technology, many of the dead could be brought back to the living. If at all possible, it is not going to be anytime soon. Sometimes these ideas do sound like someone just ate a few mushrooms but its important for a scientist to keep open minded. For colonizing you simply need a translation from point A to point B. Distances in space are in the many light years, but perhaps there is a way around the speed of light.

On Earth the earliest life blazed the trail for life that followed. What followed was the emergence of the right kinds of life as the environment changed in a way that may be different for every habitable planet in our galaxy. We wouldn't need to just program the DNA for humans but for all the possible transitional forms between. We also know that organisms tend to remove non-functional DNA over time so we would need to protect that information from degrading.

I think it makes more sense to bring sperm cells and an egg They are both lightweight and if genetics gets to the level that we colonize space it would make sense to program the bacteria but we already have a system that works. That said it makes sense to have a backup system just in case but if cryogenics is developed it would net the same result.

No matter what you belive about this story, the most reliable way to be wrong is to use the word 'never'. Even a bad idea can create the framework for brilliance.

Lol this is some really out-there science. This is thinking waaay into the future - by that point we'll probably be able to travel to planets ourselves just as well. Let's start out with terraforming planets. That by itself will take hundreds of years to do.
