Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

If the program creates a private key, uses a hash to find the public key and make a mistake. It could potentially give you a public key and the incorrect private key.
