Edit: I'll make the blog and start posting some pictures of my work tonight or tomorrow.

Recently I had a project idea in mind and I was wondering if the community would be willing to crowdfund the idea?

Basically I have an RV I'm fixing up right now and I'd like to hit the road fulltime and get new businesses to start accepting bitcoin.

That's the basics. I'd keep a blog and expense report publicly archived.

Thoughts?

Could go one of two ways. I crowdfund the price of current fixes to the RV and hit the road on my own dime but charge a small fee to start businesses up and pay my expenses. Or I crowdfund a larger amount and I make a preset "tour" route. Where I can talk to people and meetup along the way those that donate/want me to speak on what issues I faced getting businesses to accept BTC.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Sorry mate, but after finshaggy's various experiments your "hit the road and raise awareness of BTC" sounds plain and boring Smiley.

If i had the balls to have drugs mailed to me. I'd be too high right now to make this thread.

However, I am dedicated enough to do drug tests and post them publicly if that's a legit concern and not a joke.

Is this the Bitcoin Tour 2014?

Mind linking me to previous attempts? I've never heard of anyone else try.

I might be able to learn something from their attempt.

No previous attempts that I'm aware of.  I was being serious.   Well, mostly...  If you like it, use it?

If that's the case I'm going to roll with it.

Matter of fact I'm going to prove I'm dedicated to doing this. Let a few more replies come with interest first.

As if me selling an 06 charger for an 85 RV doesn't prove I'm dedicated enough -

You don't think these businesses will just view you as a crazy guy in an RV talking about "weird crazy technology they don't need"

Someone did this a few years ago but he vowed to only pay for things in bitcoins.

Maybe. However, I don't think I'll take the RV to 90% of the businesses I target.

this. I believe the guy ran off with everyone's coins ...how about we escrow it , you shoot pictures of you at various points or do tricks for us and we release the funds slowly for every threshold met.....so if we say drink at a fountain in the city you report you are in you go there and you drink from it ....or stick your finger up your a$$ while drinking to keep it entertaining Smiley

I hope this works well for you.  My wife had a Charger with the Hemi.  Man, was that thing fast.  Another idea is some logos to put on your RV:

"Tired of the Federal Reserve?  Try Bitcoin!"

Or I crowdfund a larger amount and I make a preset "tour" route. Where I can talk to people and meetup along the way those that donate/want me to speak on what issues I faced getting businesses to accept BTC.

I wouldn't count on charging businesses to set them up accepting BTC. To me, this would make it seem like you're only trying to get them to accept it so that you can then make a few bucks.

Put a QR code on your vehicle and try to coordinate with Bitcoin meetups in the cities you visit. It doesn't have to be as nice as Jason King's but you'll probably get more funding from bitcoiners you run into along the way.

By getting to know the local Bitcoin community in areas you pass through, you also build a network of "support techs" for the businesses you do convince.

If I were doing this, I would put most of my effort in arranging a "kickoff party" with the nearest Bitcoin meetup group of any substantial size. Make them your first stop and use social media to spread the word.

Still around.

I think you should team up with these ideas, currently active threads right here:

Another group gave me that idea. I think I'll "sell" sponsorships for the RV.

She was fast :/ Kinda miss her now.
