Edit: In light of Maxwell's apology I will end the bounty. Thank you.

I will pay 200 BTC for proof/strong evidence that I am involved with the drug industry, child pornography, or illegal gun BTC markets as he suggests. He claims I am making a profit from this.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=54467.msg725229#msg725229

This slander is absurd/unwarranted and needs to stop. G. Maxwell post your proof/evidence here and take my BTC or apologize.

The few people who know what I do and how I make my money will find this absurd and Maxwell once it comes out you will lose face.

I will also pay a 200 BTC bounty connecting G. Maxwell to the child pornography, drug industry and illegal gun BTC markets that he claims to be such an expert on. If you can give me strong evidence in his involvement in this and make it public you will get the 200 BTC.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Full disclosure: With regards to the CP, I was made aware of a situation on 12/21.

Quote
X today brought up how Goat had told him that he had someone who would be one of his cam girls. When X brought up the documents he needs to be in compliance, i guess he stoped talking about it

I am under the understanding that the authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Edit: It appears that this is an issue of mistaken identity, I apologize.

And so it goes on...

You heard from someone who heard from someone that I was an internet pimp? And because I supposedly did not give over the I.D. this person was a child. Hmm...   Maxwell's hypothetical bitcoin child porn market does exist?? Maged is involved with it to??
I will not speculate further on this. I just wanted to point out that there is a reasonable justification for Maxwell's statement.

Right... You people must really get bored in IRC, I understand trolling but this is slander.
I merely provided facts. It is up to you to dispute them. If you say that you weren't pimping a child, then that's all we really need to know. Having said that, I consider the matter closed.

It appears that this is an issue of mistaken identity. I was just informed that the person who did these things is not actually connected to you. I apologize for that.

I have edited my earlier statement to reflect this.

I have no freeking clue what you're talking about, in fact.

I was told that the >100% payout private pools were operating services which returned clean coins to people engaging in unlawful activities, which seemed like the only explicable purpose for them since they are effectively paying people $1.15 for a _chance_ at $1.

If this was true I think the participating miners would have a right to know, since they'd be potentially putting them in front of investigations for the unlawful activities connected to the coins they received (if there was no such risk, why launder the coins?). My message explained this quite directly.

I included child porn in the list of potentially unlawful activities that people may trade with Bitcoin that the recipient of laundered funds may be investigated for in my cautionary message just because "Guns and drugs" sounded like SR, and I didn't have any reason to think the laundering was related to SR specifically, nor were they there to defend themselves— and I'm aware there have been issues in the past with people offering child sex services in our related communities.

I was particularly concerned that the people proffering these services were not even making an _attempt_ to argue a legitimate lawful purpose to them.

How was I supposed to know that Goat was a expat living in Thailand (?) who people had been previously accused of being involved in child sex trafficking?  :-/   I had not been made aware of those particular accusations (though perhaps the people telling me that the >100% payouts were for laundering had been). I was not aware of the previous boondoggle with the supposedly underage undocumented cam girl.  Though perhaps I might point out that in most of the developed world the obligation is on the provider of sexual content to document that their models are of age rather than demanding that other people, without the benefit of knowing their identity, prove them to be underage.

Do we really want to be running a community here where people express a concern the accused offer assassination market payments to "uncover" evidence against their accusers? I don't think this is acceptable.

So what should someone who's been mining for you do when after they use their mined coins to buy Alpaca Socks law enforcement shows up and tells them that their coins were the marked proceeds from a sting operation related to drugs, arms sales, child porn trade, or that they were bitcoins reported previously stolen and that they have a warrants to seize all their computers to look for evidence?

The word on IRC is that these private services which pay >100% PPS in BTC for mining are doing this because they're attempting to get rid of 'dirty' coins which could potentially be traced in exchange for freshly mined coins.  Certainly this is the only thing I've heard that makes any economic sense at all, but if it's true don't the miners have a right to know what role they're playing in this and what risk they're taking?

Have I got it wrong?  Can you help me understand what the business is here?

Hmm - so I guess someone other than gmaxwell used gmaxwell's account to post that coz on IRC 7 hours ago:
Code:
< kanoi> well after you accusing someone on the forum of CP and prostitution without any proof at all
I guess he decided your not worth giving a shit about the crap you say :)
< gmaxwell> kanoi: I did no such thing, but whatever. *ploink* welcome to ignore.

Meanwhile, I can think of 3 ways immediately of how someone could make > 100% bitcoins on your hashing power without having to accuse them of CP and thus gmaxwell showing a lack of intelligence:
1) Merged Mining
2) Pool Hopping
3) Investment
However I guess the 3rd one may be too complex to understand gmaxwell? Should I explain it in detail?

I certainly have no details of how the OP actually does pay > 100%, however, gmaxwell trying to associate him with CP for no reason or proof at all really says a lot about gmaxwell ...

What a riot.

@OP: For the record, when people on a forum or IRC think they have some proof of illegal activity against you, let them keep the burden of proof.

actually he's offering a market payment just for info/evidence, which would be of great amusement I'm sure in Thailand where an actual "assassination market payments" say as executed by a couple of semi-pro drive by motorbike kids would cost way less than this - hint, don't holiday in BKK - jk  Wink

I should add that the reason that lead up to my IRC comment was coz gmaxwell accused someone in the IRC channel of spamming for payment of solidcoins simply coz they posted a link about bitcoin that was negative.
Again making a groundless accusation.
I think there's a pattern with this guy ...
