Hey guys! I have been working on the development of the Alien races the past month, I am super excited about this project and will be posting some sketches and descriptions these coming days. Any ideas or input is very welcome! I am absolutely positive that this game will be epic! Heaps of cred to HYPERfan for designing such a sassy looking coin! Here is a sneakpeak of 1/10 aliens! Some more information will be added in the future together with a poster pic of the different aliens. I will be posting the next race tomorrow. Unus / Grey Mass of the Planet Volcaur
Unus is a species named by humans, meaning one, but is more commonly referred to as Grey Mass. Both which are contradictory, the body of a Unus consists of hundreds of individuals each which holds key functions and are crucial to the survival of the body. Grey Mass has the ability to mimic all living organisms with full body functions; they appear walking, talking, swimming or crawling after which form is most beneficial.
A Unus individual can only survive a maximum of 8 hours outside the body but has the ability to go into hibernation up to 50 earth years while waiting to join a new collective where they will take over whichever function necessary. Each member of the collective has an extraordinary memory capacity and is believed to be able store all information equal to that of an entire spaceship.
The species was first encountered by humans when they discovered a series of seemingly empty but highly advanced spaceships. To protect the collective the Gray Mass had completely integrated itself with the operating system, being impossible to detect until willingly coming out from hiding. Hence being named after the grey mass in the human brain, Unus also appears grey when not affected by a light source.
When first encountered by pre civilized humans (pre space civilization) tried to harness the memory capacity of Unus individuals. All specimens died and all attempts to prolong the lifespan failed. The actions were met by outrage from the Unus community and led to casualties on both sides, until a truce was finally settled thanks to the diplomatic superiority of the Caecusians.
Due to the truly alien nature it’s not yet settled if Unus is the so far known intelligent species with the most or the least members. Unus doesn’t share much information and it is unknown how the reproduction woks, they are believed to be atheists. Unus doesn’t naturally possess a verbal or written language but passes on the collective knowledge as an example: if a Unus individual becomes stray from its body and then joins another collective the new body will know everything the first body experienced, similar to human cells. This is used to pass information between bodies if necessary.
Unus is the only known intelligent life who is native to a planet without oxygen or water but with the most amounts of active volcano's hence given the name Volcaur. Unus lives of the sulfur, the only other life form on Volcaur is bacteria.
Unus are driven by the interest for technology and mainly interact with other species to get materials. Unus doesn’t have their own monetary system but trades technology for the resources and material from other planets including HYPER. Unus is known to lack moral standards in a human sense of the word, as there are no other living organisms on their home world besides bacteria, and are highly opportunistic; however they are crucial companions when it comes to technology. So come on now dudes and dudettes, on with the tinfoil-hat and shoot me a lot of awesome alien ideas! |
