I keep having people ask about the technical specifications/white paper for XC do we have anything like this already or, is it in the works to release with rev3 as things come more finalized?

I'm guessing a whitepaper and other technical info will be released along with Rev 3, I think it states something similar in the road map but cant remember right now.

EM TEST RELEASE

Now available at

http://downloads.xc-official.com/testing/

Windows only for now, The UI for this feature will be completely revamped but I need to test out the core of this feature.

The PDF has a quick walk through on how to use

You will need to generate a new address, which also creates a PUBKEY just for that address, which is used for encryption.  You will need the remote users XC Address and also the PUBKEY.

I need to setup the testnet node, then some testing can take place - due to the hour[and I'm away from my main pc], it may not be until tomorrow morning for the actual test itself.

thanks,

Dan

Nice Dan, thank you for signing the release.

I just downloaded the mac wallet and am reading the _MUSTREAD_.txt file.

In it it says:

Quote
Wallet has Been udpated to match branding... so has your %appdata% - backup wallet.dat

This means if you run the wallet, it will create a new directory called XCurrency under %appdata%.

Fist run wallet to create directory[then close] or

mkdir %appdata%\XCurrency

then to copy

copy %appdata%\X11Coin\*.* %appdata%\XCurrency\

For Seed Nodes

Copy the enclosed XCurrency.conf to your %appdata%\XCurrency\

So I copied everything from the X11Coin folder to the XCurrency folder and the blockchain and my wallet loaded up just fine.

My question is, do I still need to copy xcurrency.conf to the Xcurrency folder? Because I don't see it in the .zip file containing the mac wallet. I only see qt.conf.

Is that just a windows thing? Or what's the deal with the .conf file for seed nodes?

Thanks.   I think Dan still need to setup the test node after I reread his posting.     So, it might not go through.  Not sure if I have to finish the blockchain first or it just uses RPC.  Will see.  Still have 8354 blocks remaining to sync.

Looks like you got my name right this time, finally the only thing you got right (nope you fucked that up too on second look)  The only BS and nonsense it has caused, is from YOU !! you are the BS and nonsense that spawned from my comment. Deal with it, they are facts =  XC is leaving behind DARK COIN and every other "shit" coin (which is all alt coins in my opinion - even bitcoin is a shit coin in MY EYES until it goes mainstream)  You blew your top as predicted in your own post. I have already ripped apart your semantics on it and proved how wrong you are, you are not me, you are not my thoughts so in future dont try and speak for other people when you constantly are getting it wrong, you are in the wrong here and deflecting hard because you couldn't mind your own business.  So use ignore and move on because the real world doesn't take this kind of crap which is what you are seeing back form me about your bs comment.   So with that said Good Day.

GG XC community lets refocus on our inter stellar position ahead of the pack and move on from these kinda fanboy tears

Great!!! Can it be used as a Xnode? If so, what's the procedure? Thanks for the help.

Guys... rule 1 and rule 12...

Quote
1. Be good to each other
2. Be gracious to "enemies"
3. Completely ignore spam, FUD, and abusive comments
4. If you respond to anything with the above in it, erase the offending remarks from your reply before posting, because leaving it in will allow it to incite further offense. (Also Teka might delete your post.)
5. Don't ever spread FUD elsewhere. Respect other projects. XC doesn't need to compete with them; it's strong enough on its own.
6. Be patient with newbies. There'll be a lot of them arriving as XC grows.
7. The way you treat people makes up 95% of what's relevant in a post; the information supplied is 5%.
8. The way XC appears to the world depends on the way you are to other people.
9. Be aware of the difference between what you perceive and what you infer from your perceptions (e.g. statements vs. the intentions suggested by statements).
10. You devalue yourself by being aggressive/insulting/etc.
11. If we don't treat opponents well, then we just take on their mode of interacting instead of imparting our mode of interacting.
12. So be good to each other.

Oh and this gem...  Clearly Shia LeBeouf's (sp?) best work yet.

IMHO: Don't make things too complicated.

New users will not understand what "XCend" means.. "Enable Private Transaction" makes much more sense as EVERYONE will know what it means...

Yes I totally agree, orginally were going to go with enable privacy mode but that seemed more confusing as new features are added. So I suggested enable privacy transaction and we discussed it. However, we are open to ideas.

Not to rock the boat but I like the "XCend" idea. Not necessarily the name "XCend", but the fact we have a branded name for that function (think Darkcoin with Darksend!).

Perhaps on the UI itself have "Enable Private Transaction (XCend)" next to the checkbox, so it's clear and intuitive what the function does to someone who doesn't even know what XCend is.

Just my 0.2 XC.

Branding is good when you are first on the market with some idea and brand it, putting a lot of money in explaining the meaning of a new thing like XCend. To be the first, remembered and most recognisable. XC isn't and won't if you won't put millions of XC to promote this. But is it worth for a button?

After all it's about private sending.

So to gain and be better must be simple. "Private send" is clear, simple, obvious, user friendly button name. DOT. Cool

Few questions: now if I wanna host xnode, I need to have 550XC at least in wallet or not? Second, I need to forward port (done it already)? And third, if I wanna my wallet act as an xnode, and it is encrypted, do I unlock it for staking only, or full unlock it? Sorry I had to ask, but I am thinking to try to host several nodes on few virtual machines. Which leads me to next, fourth question: if I do that, and forward same port on several IP addresses, would it not make some conflict when some transaction try to pass trough some node? Or it will pick random node, even they are behind same nat? Will nodes work behind same nat with multiple chances to receive transaction, or act as one since they all have same port to communicate with network? I have to ask last question, since some games (like blizzard games) start to act funny if you have few clients open behind same nat with open port, and they use strictly one port.
Edit: I would like to use linux to host mine xnodes, is latest wallet ok and up to date with windows one?

I'd like to know the answers to the above questions too. + one more question: which has higher priority - the number of Xnodes or the amount of coins? Thanks.

I'd just like to thank the team for all the hard work and effort. If only all other alt coins had this level of professionalism, innovation and timeliness Digital currency would  already be a  trillion dollar industry.!

This quote should bring some insight into multiple XNodes!

Interested in multiple Xnode ?

* Multiple node setup in single instance (change port for XC)

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/ec2-multiple-remote-nothing-nm-max-5.1660/

* Monitoring multiple NM using blocknotify(change damon name for XC)
: Status updated when a new block is received.

Quote original from President Chaeplin, got it wrong during deleting. Maybe it is time to get our own techy's to do such a description on xctalk.com?

the number of Xnodes or the amount of coins? Thanks.

I don't really get your question. The amount needed for a XNode is 550 XCurrency. Making this more doesn't influence the XNode. Making it less would mean it would not work (i guess).

So to answer your question as perceived; You should first get as MANY coins as you can get. Your number of XNodes will increase with it Wink

Yes, I have seen that on dark forum too. But it is running nodes in EC2 cluster. I dont want to run them in cloud. Second, it is a guide how to run it on 5 public static addresses. I have one public address (for now). If I need few addresses, I shall get them from local ISP since I know the owner, at zero cost. But not everyone can get static public address at zero cost. Consider in my country it can cost from 5 to even 20 euro per address per month. Other than that, I can host it on several PCs at work (they are all mine, I don't work in some public service, I work in my own company). And I host one at home and one at work since xnode story started. But I would like to try to host it on my home pc in few virtual instances. Is it possible or not? I think not, but had to ask.
