Update poclbm

I started mining half a month ago, but in a last few days I get no shares although my cards mine full throttle. Now, I've read in a thread that I need to update poclbm. Might I ask how to do that? I tried downloading it from momchil's forum page and copy-pasting it, but that doesn't work. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What mining software are you using? DiabloMiner, CGMiner, PhoenixMiner, GUIMiner?
Are you using Windows or Linux?
What cards are you running and how many?
What motherboard are you using? (This question is just to satisfy my curiosity  )

Searching in Mining Sofware, Mining support and Technical support produced 4 results, none matched your problem.

When I last checked (yesterday morning?), the Windows binaries still weren't updated. Might want to try out a different miner for a couple days until the fixed version is compiled.

Sorry for not including the data: guiminer, win7 x64, 2x5850 and Gene-Z. I tried changing miner through guiminer from poclbm to phoenix but it was just sitting there 'connecting'...

Edit; I went to that thread and tried to do that, but apparently I am doing something wrong. I don't know about this one:

..if I am doing something wrong. I don't know about 15098 number and what it stands for. I am on slush's pool - don't know if the number has something to do about pools.

The 15098 is the TCP port of the mining pool, much like port 80 is used for HTTP.

If you are using slush's pool, they typically host on 8332, so the url will look like:
http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332

If you are using bitminter, they typically host on 15098
http://mmpool.bitparking.com:15098

You can right click > Save target as
or you can just double click the link to download the latest file.

Please be aware of the extension: poclbm_py2exe_20120205.7z
The 7zip archive/extract tool is not installed in Windows as it is third party software.
If you don't already have it you can download from here: http://7-zip.org/

When extracting, right click the poclbm file > extract to new folder. Allow it to use the file name to name the folder.
You will probably have to replace the old files with the new files from the extracted folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\poclbm_py2exe_20120205
There are 24 files total.

The only other issue possibly is poclbm.ini which is located in /appdata/roaming/, ...I don't know if you need to mess with this or not.

Q: How can I delete my miner settings, or edit them manually?
A: Miner settings are stored in %APPDATA%\Roaming\poclbm. For example, on Windows 7 this path translates to C:\Users\Kiv\AppData\Roaming\poclbm. The file poclbm.ini inside contains the settings in JSON format. There are also some settings in .ini files inside the miner directory, also in JSON format. No registry keys are used, so removing these .ini files completely erases your settings.

In the GUIMiner thread there does seem to be some issues with the latest poclbm.

that started the workers but it only mined about 1 mhash/s each with poor usage of GPUs and 25% of CPU. I am clearly doing something wrong.

I tried copy-pasting it to GUIMiner before you pointed me to the thread. In the thread was written to paste it to C:\poclbm_py2exe_20120205, I will try that now.

Did you unpack poclbm_py2exe_20120205.7z with 7zip?
If it isn't unpacked first it won't function.

Yes, in fact I only use 7zip for unpacking. Will the GUIMiner be updated with poclbm, so I can download it at a latter time? Currently I use CGMiner and it works but Mhash/s aren't as good as through GUIMiner.

GUIMiner hasn't been updated in 6 months or more.

Maybe try going back to a July version of GUIMiner?

I'm trying to helpful as I can. I gave up on Windows 3 years ago but it be callin me, man.

Just an update: tried previous version and it works but it gives me lower (around 50) Mhash/s and higher GPU temps. I don't know what to make of it.
