how long does it take for my balance to become effective to forge after sending to a new secure account (sent from dgex distribution account)

Stakeholders must make an outgoing transaction before block 2880 or they'll

i have made an outgoing transaction on block 750 but my account still states i do not have any effective balance

To be clear.. If you're a stakeholder you can forge before block 2880 (basically immediately) after you make an outgoing transaction.
If you use the JSON API you can even forge without making a transaction first.
I guess they force you to do a transaction in the NXT client since it's safer to do so.

If you're not a stakeholder then yes you must wait 1440 blocks (which is half a day because of the 30 sec block time)

yep no worries, i also invested via dgex so its a mandatory transfer to a new account.

This information can be applied for any other new FIMK accounts created, as well as for NXT and it's clones.
Plus a good thing to know, that you can always specify a lowest fee (0.1) for any transaction, no matter how large the amount is. It is especially actual for FIMK now, because forging node will get his 200 coins anyway.

Yes it's disabled.

May I ask why?  I have a VPS account waiting for a lease so it can forge safely.

Is it still accessible using the API?

It was considered unsafe at the time of development, especially in combination with the added POS rewards.
Also still lots of changes are made to account lease in NXT core.
We will enable it if the community wants it but we'll have to make choices here this requires resources, we'll have to adjust the automated test env, the core code and so on.

There also is the issue of trust when it comes to leasing your stake. You must trust the lease pool owner to pay you, while this could easily be done from within the protocol where the forger fees could be paid  automatically based on a pre-set percentage.

Getting to a launchable product took a lot of time and effort, now that that's behind us we can start thinking as a community where to head from here.

We use GPG signed announcements that contain both SHA and MD5 hashed.

I understand the complications.  But please consider the use case that doesn't involve pooling.  Simply used for account protection, as is my intention.
I control accounts A and B.  A has high balance and a very protected passphrase.  B is kept low balance and unlocked to forge on a networked Virtual Private Server (VPS), to which a third party may have access (VPS provider).  My wish is to lease A balance to B so that I can forge without risking the balance of A.
This is a very desirable feature IMHO.
Is leasing still available using the API?  If it is, do you consider it safe to use?

Interesting use case. And all completely reasonable it's just not my decision alone.
Leasing is disabled in the core so no API sorry.
