FIM blockchain explorer still out of sync with wallet - but really good otherwise

Expect the coming update to be a properly functioning blockexplorer. It sucks we know, sorry.

"Your secret phrase will be sent to the FIM server!"
You should rephrase this, because it gives an impression that it will send the passphrase to a remote server. It could cause confusion.
How about: "You have to provide your secret phrase to refresh!"

Good one! That's absolutely better than what we have now. I'll update it in a coming release. Thanks!

What is sure is that the chance to forge a block when the countdown has not reached zero is very small.
If the deadline is not refreshed after every block, and base target gets bigger than since last refresh, then the chance to forge before countdown reaching zero is pretty big.
I could be wrong of course, but clarification would be welcome eather way.

The easiest way would be to update the countdown on each block (a drawback would be that the time to forge will jump around constantly).
But since you need to send your secretPhrase along with the request for the deadline, making that automatic (without the users expressed consent) has the risk of a user on a public node sending his passphrase once. Then realizing he/she doesn't want/trust that and the client will continue doing so.

This is a first basic implementation of the forger countdown, I can imagine a next release to show the current behavior only when you are on a public node.

If in doubt you can always refresh the countdown, that's why we put it there since we expected some confusion on this subject.

When I tried to update to the new version, I got this error message:
The downloaded version hash does not compare to the specified hash in the blockchain. DO NOT PROCEED.

Embarrassed that's not supposed to happen.
What OS are you using?

What do I do now?

If you go here http://onlinemd5.com/ you can enter the SHA256 checksum mentioned in the release announcement https://github.com/fimkrypto/fimk/releases/tag/v0.2.2 and if you check the downloaded fim-0.2.2.zip against the SHA256 in the release announcement you'll see that it does match. Sorry for the incovenience.

When I tried to update to the new version, I got this error message:
The downloaded version hash does not compare to the specified hash in the blockchain. DO NOT PROCEED.
What do I do now?
Delete fim_db catalog and restart program

Did that work for you? Not sure if that has any effect.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I actually just installed the client the same way I installed the original one, and that worked fine. It redownloaded the block chain. New client seems to be working fine now.

There is a dedicated FIM 0.2.2 Release thread on our forum http://forum.fimk.fi/index.php?topic=64.0.
If you run into any issues with the 0.2.2 release it is very much appreciated if people (also) used that thread to post any findings.

Thank you.

Honestly, I understand why do you display the countdown, but from experience with Nxt I think it just confuses newbees.
How about instead of calling getForging you just make the calculations on the client side.
Instead of a countdown you could just display the avarage forging time based on balance, coin supply, and last base target. It could be updated with every block.

"You will forge a block an avarage of x weeks/days/hours", is good information, and less confusing than the countdown that jumps around and in no way accurate.
Or if you love the countdown you could check last forged block time, make the above calculation in client, and create a countdown. This way there is no need for passhrase.

Hi there.

If I have 161 530 FIM

How long does it take to build a block?

if the latter did 04/07/2014 20:43:28  Block 4651

All day and forging anything.

Approximately about every 17,5 hours if I calculated right.
I have only 10k so I don't forge, it would take so long...  Undecided

FIM Version 0.2.2 Released

We have released FIM 0.2.2 which consists of some minor fixes related to unclear wording and some bigger improvements to client.

  • Users are notified automatically when a new version is available
  • Users can download the new version from within the client
  • Downloaded versions can be verified to be genuine from within the client
  • Account aliases can be used with both numeric and RS accounts (the ones starting with FIM)
  • Forging countdown indicator and forging refresh functionality added to the client

There was some confusion if the client was forging correctly. We have added a countdown that counts down to the moment you are expected to forge the next block.
This time is an average, it is possible (and will likely happen many times) that when the countdown reaches zero you dont't actually get to forge the block. What is sure is that the chance to forge a block when the countdown has not reached zero is very small.

The so-called deadline (the time until you forge the next block) changes every block. You can refresh the deadline (ask the deadline from the FIM server) by clicking the button next to the count down indictor.

Nice work!  Keep it up!  Mining/forging FIM is awesome!  I have a feeling FIM is going to be called "NXT done right" soon.

When are stop-loss and limit orders being added to the AE?  Is FIMK consortium adding an altcoin gateway for trading altcoins using the FIM AE?

Also when is one click installable wallet for OSX and Windows going to be ready?

Also we need a FIMK multipool, so we have an alternate way to mine FIMK and give its price further support.

Just some roadmap ideas...
