Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

 If I could go back in time and do it again, I wouldn't have bought a card for mining... I would have just bought bitcoins directly. I could have made something like a $500 profit already, where right now I'm still about $200 in the hole.
