Prof. Don Patterson explains the outcome of the 3D printing project that his research group is working on. A QR code is printed onto a physical representation of a bitcoin. The resulting object is not quite good enough, but some good lessons were learned.

I think the only way is via colored sandstone right now. You could also just press the whole thing into an ink pad.

The new MakerBot Replicator is capable of two-color printing. With previous models (single extruder) it would be a bit of a hassle.

I'd suggest painting the QR code after printing.
