I'm going to start off by saying that I *know* a dedicated rig would be better than the solution I am trying to cobble together. Believe me, I would much rather have a couple of gridseeds or a titan or any of the other powerhouse rigs that are coming out. I can't afford one right now and with Bitcoin values rising and altcoins coming out of the woodwork every day, it isn't profitable to rent rigs anymore (if it ever even was to begin with!).

It's my birthday today (go me!) and my husband has asked me what I want. I don't want flowers or candy or clothes or jewelry. I want MOAR HASHING POWER.

My question is this - if I were to buy several of the 4 - 6 GHs USB ASIC miners, how would I "chain" them together so that they would all mine the same coin @ the same pool?

I would need a USB hub, right? Could I just tell the husband to head on down to our local Best Buy and pick up any old hub or does it have to have specific features?

Any advice would be appreciated Smiley

Thanks in advance,

Cynthia

You can "chain them" - just assign them all the same workername. I currently do this with Antminer S1's. Each antminer gets 200 GH/s, but all three together get me 600 GH/s at the same pool. Any USB hub can work (there are some that are iffy, but as long as it's a powered hub it's my understanding that you should be fine).

You should ask your husband to get you something similar, but be aware that mining can be tricky and can cause you to lose Bitcoin if you aren't careful. Good luck!

Tell that husband of yours to pick you up a nice S1 Smiley.  Those 4 - 6 GH/s USB miners are power hungry and typically go well above spec for USB2.0 and even USB3.0.  If you're really stuck on stick mining, you can grab some Antminer U2s for about $10 each.  Throw 5 of them into a powered USB hub and hash away.  And yes, you can pick up a powered USB hub at your local Best Buy.

Happy birthday, by the way!

Happy birthday!  please do not buy usb miners their time has passed.  buy something like this

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=629006.0

much better choice then a usb stick one of these does not need a hub. If you have   a lot of these  then you could use a hub but it can be a low cost hub.
