Buying from Bitstamp, or Vault of Satoshi, using fully verified accounts is my best idea. You can try talking with Vault of Satoshi and i`m sure they will give you a good price.

Depends of where are you located, for europe, you can try to buy them via bitstamp.. or if you are able to get money into btc-e, it would be the best choice.. and for americans, coinbase is the better choice,.

Second Market/Bitcoin Investment Trust is pretty much designed for this exact purpose. Perhaps you could contact them and see what they say.

If you are from Belgium or The Netherlands, or have a Belgian or Dutch bank account, you can buy them instantly through Bitonic or Bitplaats.
The fees are very reasonably.

wherever you're buying them from, DO NOT leave them in an online exchange.

Here's what to do.  Pick the exchange you want to use, set up with them and do $5000.  Pull it out, put it somewhere ELSE - Armory, etc.   Verify your money with a private key known only to you is in the blockchain.  Then do another $5000.  Rinse, repeat.  Up it to $10000.  Pretty soon you are done.

Honestly for that amount you'd probably be able to get a Bitcoin millionaire to meet you somewhere with security to do the trade.

Nothing wrong with that concept.  Meet in a bank where one of you knows the people there.

Or an attorney's office.  Or a title company, strange as that might sound.

Depends on how anonymous you would like to be, etc.   You can buy from someone on llocalbitcoins, but would make sure they have excellent feedback and also of course meet in a safe location.  You could also break it down into smaller transactions, back to back..like start out with $500 to make sure goes well..then $1000, then $2000 and then $5000 at a time or however you feel comfortalbe.

I have done this and bought $51K of BTC and all went fine.  Just be methodical about it. I also arranged to meet at a location near where I live, so I didn't carry all the cash on me at once. I brought about 15K and traded that and then went home and got the rest after I was sure the seller was cool.

If you do it through Coinbase or Bitstamp, you may or may not get a better rate, but you will have to verify your identity and all that comes with it.  Nothing wrong with that, but just a consideration for some people.

It really depends if you want to leave a paper trail, and how much you want to expose yourself. The quickest way would probably be a large exchange, but you'll have to provide your full identity. If you care about this, then do it bits at a time through localbitcoins.com via cash deposit if you don't want to meet the seller face to face.

Much easier to send a wire to Bitstamp than deal with all this hassle of meeting someone in person with armed security and 60k in cash. That's a bit silly I think.

As a new user, fastest way may be through localbitcoins.com, as some already suggested this site.
All(if I'm not mistaken) serious exchanges require some user validation, which may take a couple of business days and may be an impediment if you don't want to divulge your identity or are too paranoid.

That is almost exactly what you have to do, but may be in little portions. Risk less and be safe Wink
Withdraw at the moment you have the deal.

I use coinbase and I'm happy with them, but the OP should know that they have a $3000 USD per day maximum on buying. So it would take a lot of transactions to get all of your 61k bought and transferred to your private wallet.

Maybe he can use several exchanges at the same time, like coinbase, bitstamp and ANX. Also he need to have multiple bank accounts too.
