Sometimes, my brainfarts are golden! This idea is about to take wings but, once again, I'll need a little help from this community, preferably from those that drink. Inspired from: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=63643.msg745813#msg745813Introducing a new cocktail called The Satoshi or Satoshi (whichever name you, the reader, decide is best for marketing). As bitcoinbitcoin113 so kindly has pointed out, it must have Cointreau (triple sec) as the/a main ingredient. Atheros was instrumental in suggesting triple sec. To get your creative juices flowing (pun intended, or not), take a look at this website: http://www.cocktailmaking.co.uk/displayingredient.php/118-triple-secOnce the main ingredients are suggested, we'll move until how it should best be served: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_up_(bartending) Bear in mind, that I'm not trying to get drinking establishment into accepting bitcoins (that's down the road), but trying to bring further awareness to Bitcoin by having a fashionable drink named after our beloved founder. The built-in beauty with this drink is that after consuming too many, you'll no longer be able to pronounce it correctly, thus having the establishment that serves it, cut you off. I, for one, like the logo and color: Once perfected, and I hope soon, I'll introduce it to fine cocktail lounges around the Chicagoland area. Perhaps, this cocktail may excite the ladies into wanting to learn more about Bitcoin. We can only hope. The main competition is the Cosmopolitan, Margarita and Long Island Ice Tea. ~Bruno~ Fake Edit: I can envision this cocktail served at fine Sushi Bars. Thoughts?

Maybe you should make it into a layered shot? Those are always pretty and bring attention. But there's already the B-52, which has triple sec :\

Not a bad idea, but was hoping for something more social. Perhaps, though, your idea could be used for a Nakamoto. Something that'll really kick you in the ass.

Okay okay I just thought of it. Since margaritas are mexican-ish and use tequila and triple sec, you can make a japanese one called a satoshirita that uses sake and triple sec? probably won't get popular though, just throwing out wild suggestions

Now you're a thinkin'! Still, what else is in (recipe)? It has to be different than what's already out there, albeit not too different. And it must be palatable. And look good. How readily available is sake? And would it taste good with triple sec? I envision a thin orange peel rind floating or toothpicked in the drink. More thoughts?! I'm getting thirsty! ~Bruno~

On a more serious note, have you ever tried triple sec straight up? It is sickeningly sweet. I don't think its going to catch on, man...

I was going to Google 'derp', but opt not to. I've never drank triple sec straight up before, but have had many a Long Island Ice Teas. I'm sure mixed with a myriad of other alcohols, it's not bad. The only way a Satoshi or Satoshirita won't catch on, is if we don't try. That said, start mixing, and provide me a recipe to present to the lounges. Now that we know that Matthew is no longer MIA, we can concentrate on pressing matters--like creating a cocktail called Satoshi. What if the only place (at least at the beginning) one could order a Satoshi is at a Sushi Bar? I'm sure that the patrons that visit such a place resemble the demographics that we, as Bitcoiners, are trying to market to. ~Bruno~ http://cocktails.about.com/od/cocktail_contest/a/contest_basics.htmhttp://philadelphia.foobooz.com/2011/09/07/philly-needs-a-new-cocktail/

Great idea again, bitcoinbitcoin113. A shot glass clearly marked with a line to represent a "bit". Too bad a "Wise Shot" has been in use for years, but a "Bit Shot"? Hmmm!!! ~Bruno~

Try to work in 21 million of something (or maybe just 21), and deflation.
Dont shake it, instead add the alcohol a lot at first, then some of the mixers, then a little more alcohol on top, etc. If you could achieve an alcohol gradient it would get stronger as you got to the end. A straw would work in reverse, so...If you want a straw, ask for an inflationary Satoshi. If you want it shaken/stirred say "with market intervention".
Now what should it mean if you want to "get goxed"? Double size?

How about a "twist" on the apt Kamikaze: (vodka, triple sec, lime juice) - Alizé Gold Passion
- Cointreau Triple Sec
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
Then for the special dashes to make it a Satoshi: - Goldschläger
- Creme de Cassis (get the reference?)

Ok, I've got it for "getting goxed". If you don't want any coin, say you wanna get goxed. This will mean substitute with something stronger. Everclear.
Also do you like bubbles? Tonic water. There are many word games to be played with this.

Oh Yes! There must be bubbles. Bubbles are the unavoidable price we pay for having a currency that has a limited monetary base. Perhaps the bubbles are from the OpenCola. "OpenCola is a brand of cola unique in that the instructions for making it are freely available and modifiable. Anybody can make the drink, and anyone can modify and improve on the recipe as long as they, too, license their recipe under the GNU General Public License."

The symbolism is becoming complex enough to seem deep. The opencola idea is good, but most places won't carry that right now. Maybe that should be named something that indicates a little extra purity. Perhaps that would be a Satoshi to eight decimal places: A Satoshi-oct, Satoshi-8, Satoshi-oooooooB, Satooobshi, or... maybe some play on open, Open Sauced, I dunno...

Indeed OpenCola would be hard to come by; it's more for the spirit of the idea. The recipe for the Satoshi could say something like, "Fill to brim with OpenCola (substitute regular Coke/Pepsi)". Plus coke and triple sec is tasty. Perhaps one more ingredient and we've got ourselves a drink.

I want to state first that I'm serious about this Satoshi cocktail idea. Most of the suggestions have been great, and hope they keep coming, even the crazy ones, for you'll never know when one will fork the conversation to the final result. One would think that creating a new drink is easy, but it's not, once you delve into all the details in what makes up a fine cocktail. So far, the easy part was the name, but coming up with the proper recipe may prove more difficult than the marketing aspect. That said, continue brainstorming on the ingredients. I'm sure will come up with something. Must include:Cointreau Triple Sec Strongly consider:Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka Options:Bubbles (Rhubarb Dry Soda) to best represent Open Source [Open Cola] Orange Rind & Slice of Kiwi How about a "twist" on the apt Kamikaze: (vodka, triple sec, lime juice) - Alizé Gold Passion
- Cointreau Triple Sec
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
Then for the special dashes to make it a Satoshi: - Goldschläger
- Creme de Cassis (get the reference?)
We may be getting close with deepceleron's idea. Any idea on how it will taste?

And, if at all possible, have the cocktail lady friendly. One they'll enjoy having in front of them (presentation) as well as it being palatable. But a gentleman would not be afraid to order it out of fear of it being a lady's drink.

Time to revise on how this Satoshi cocktail should be created--by bartenders and mixologists. A contest! Give them simply rules and required ingredients, offer a nice prize package, then let them have at it. The prize package can consist of all or any combination of the following: - 100 BTC
- A pair of alpaca socks
- A year subscription to Bitcoin Magazine
- BitBrew Coffee
I could have made the list longer, but you get the idea. ~Bruno~

Great idea. Good luck with it!
Thanks, Herodes. I do like edd's two ideas, albeit not naming one of them a Nakamoto, but can envision either cocktail to be referred to as a BTC. Perhaps the following one (but the other one is just as good): Bailey's Tequila Coffee I had something else come to mind last night after I wrote my last post, but edd's suggestion of naming one of the drinks a Nakamoto that he offered up, kind of put a wrinkle in my plans. But I'll pretend he didn't suggestion it, and go ahead and lay out my thinking, with apologies to edd. Somehow I envisioned that when a Satoshi is ordered, it's customarily/required to order a Nakamoto at the same time (cocktail lounges should love this idea). Therefore, I propose having the bartenders/mixologists develop two cocktails at the same time to win the contest. A Satoshi for the lady and a Nakamoto for the gentleman. When drinking alone, he (or her) could have a BTC. Here's the beauty in my idea. Many a time, once asked by the server what you're having, the reply is 'what do you suggest?' The server should naturally suggest what's all the rage--a Satoshi and Nakamoto (once again, a Satoshi for her and the Nakamoto for him), thus generating more profit for the venue. ~Bruno~

Maybe a bartender could suggest two exciting, sexy new drinks that have similar recipes. When asked "What's the difference?" the reply would be, "The Satoshi is sweet, the Nakamoto isn't."

Let's see if I can give the Satoshi & Nakamoto cocktails some more legs. World Cocktail Week™ 2011 http://www.museumoftheamericancocktail.org/WCD/default.aspxWorld Cocktail Week® will be celebrated this year from May 6 – 13th with fundraising events planned in cities around the world. Bitcoin Magazine could announce the " Satoshi & Nakamoto" contest in its second edition (God, let it be April). The prize list will be linkable on the online version. My apologies for reviving not one, but now two, vintage threads. Trust me, though, for it was necessary in both these cases. I truly like to see a couple viable recipes for these two drinks--Satoshi & Nakamoto. Reason being is that I'm confident that I'm going to secure a drinking establishment in Chicago (good client of mine) and believe I can get the drinks on the menu. Plus there's a glorified meetup planned set for May 12, in Chicago, with plans of visiting not one, put two establishments that accept Bitcoin. There's going to be bitcoiners flying in from halfway around the world to attend this meetup...there'll be news reporters from CNN, Reuters, etc.,...a big announcement is going to be made at this meetup...keynote speakers will speak... (I knew I shouldn't have written that french kissing post). Seriously, let's discuss these drinks some more. ~Bruno~

We need a bitcoiner that's a mixologist. My friends and I spent quite a few weekends playing poker and learning to mix drinks about twenty years ago and I can tell you that creating an appetizing new drink recipe involves a lot of trial and error (ahh, the sacrifices I endured learning that lesson ). These days, I don't know anyone who stocks a full bar anymore or I'd give it a shot.
