Inspired by Phinnaeus Gage Chicago thread and adamstgBit Montreal thread, I want to form a list of San Diego bitcoin users who would like to go to restaurants accepting bitcoins as much as possible.  Once we have this list, I will start emailing and calling restaurant managers.  I am also thinking if I have your email and or signature it will be more convincing...sort of like a petition.  If a restaurant manager sees this list then it will be a no brainer to use bitcoin if the list is long enough.  Add your name to this thread if you live in San Diego and also your restaurant choice.  My choice is Stacked in Fashion Valley Mall since you can already order food via an iPad.

I live in San Diego and my wife and I eat out all the time.  We're in Ocean Beach, so we walk to The Joint, Blue Parrot, Village Kitchen, Pomas & Pepe's all the time.

I also work in the Mira Mesa area, and I eat lunch at a restaurant in that area 5 days a week.  Sima's, Tem's BBQ, Regent's Pizza, Uptown Delight approx twice a month each.

I have the MtGox app on my jailbroken iPhone to pay with.

Cool.  I am thinking, though, a good restaurant location should be in a central location.  Maybe Hillcrest is a good location.

There is a Vietnamese restaurant in Hillcrest that is good.

I'm getting hungry now. :-)

In Hillcrest, we go to City Deli & Busalacchis.

On 5th right? A little pricey but also a good choice. I’m not sure the owner would be able to get the idea of Bitcoin though.

The Busalacchi family owns several restaurants in San Diego.  We used to go the the old one on 5th, but there's a new one, also on 5th, that's not quite as good as the old one.  Or maybe that's just my nostalgia talking.  Smiley

Anyway, the only kind of food the wife and I DON'T eat is Thai & Vietnamese.  The wife also doesn't like Indian, but I love it.

Good luck.  Any place you convince to take bitcoin, I'll try at least once.

Guys if you would like to have some demo accounts for our Mobile Checkout, let me know, and I can setup something for you.  A couple of us paid our tabs tonight in Orlando using this and its fast and easy.  The business doesn't have to know what the heck a bitcoin is, or what its worth, to accept them from people and get paid.

I like Cafe Libertalia in Hillcrest already accepts bitcoins. Great little place. Too bad Phil's BBQ does not take bitcoins yet!

I was hoping for 25 people but would settle for getting at least 10 people on board for this to make an impact.  Thx sunnakar, I'll check out Cafe Libertalia.

I grew up in San Diego but now up in L.A .  I like your idea there .... Maybe I should start up the L.A one.  We should have a place/website where there is a template on how to approach managers to accept bitcoin. Sort of a "best practices" . Also, have it where we can do a checklist of whom everyone contacted.

My schedule is crazy but let me know if anything gets organized for San Diego or LA, I'm really an hour from each.

FYI, I have 9GHz of miners that are idle right now and could use some expertise if anyone is interested in some work. Will need to travel to San Clemente to work on them. Basically want them all setup from scratch software wise along with a little hardware work so they will be mining automatically on startup, etc.

Why idle? Idle miners are wasted money.  PM me if you need help, I don't know if I would be able to drive out but I manage 5Gh/s remotely so I can answer some questions.

Losing hundreds of Bitcoins with the best scammers in the business - BFL, Avalon, KNC, HashFast.

Any people in San Diego know about Local Bitcoins? Would be good to get some more people on there.

Know about? IDK, you reminded me it exists. Interested in using? Looks like not a lot. Funny to see the person in Coronado selling at 6.68 and buying at 6.29.

Closest seller to my zip is 7.4 miles (downtown). My nearest Chase is about a mile away so I'm planning to deposit a small amount to Bitfloor there, for my first time.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

Where?

There's three in the U.S. (One in Florida and two in NYC) plus GrubGo delivery in St. Louis.  Other than that, where?  [Update: There are more and more though ...   The Pao Cafe in New Hampshire, Whiskey Dicks in Tampa, FL, Cups and Cakes bakery in San Francisco, and Berlin has a cluster of them.   Baby steps.]

I'll be in SD for the big economics conference in January. If there is somewhere downtown that accepts bitcoin, I would try to go.
