So I just got an Antminer S1 and I have a corsair CX500m. It only comes with one pci-e connector, well cable, but the cable has two pci-e connectors and a 2-pin connector on it. I see people powering both blades on their S1 like this, but is that safe? I just don't want to overload those cables. I also heard of people having overheating because they used two separate cables. So am I good? I hope so...  P.S., I fixed it, maybe the next day after this original post.
I used the official Bitmain tutorial, which is... Somewhere... Anyway, it worked, and it working well up until this point. I'm also getting in a new PSU to make sure I don't blow this one and bust my hardware.

Also, I believe I ended up having to bridge the two connections to get it to connect properly. And don't forget to hit save and apply. Simply saving, does not apply your new settings. This just goes for anyone having issues setting these up. I don't know if this goes for S2's and S3's, but if it does, at least I kind of know what I'm doing now.  Thanks for the help guys. And I know to some, this may be simple, but I didn't really know what I was getting into when I purchased the device. I also haven't had to make such changes to my setup (configuring my own laptop's IP to match the Antminer's). I did also have to change the IP address of my router as well, because it had a "0" vs a "1" in it's address. Anyway, that manual should definitely help people, and I wish it came printed with the unit. It would save a lot of issues with searching... |

Everyone that use psu with an antiminer they use it like this. I dont think you will have a problem. I dont know if psu is ok with antimner if it has the power to run antminer but you can see that if it works.

OK, well I plugged it in and nothing happened... My PSU isn't doing anything, fan isn't spinning or anything. Don't tell me I have a DOA PSU...  Does the paperclip method solve this? Shouldn't the psu be spinning up regardless? |

Shouldn't the psu be spinning up regardless? got to use a paper clip. Edit: also my corsair RM 850 the fan will not run until the load is large enough or needed to cool. |

Rather the a paperclip I like to use these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251029042274?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649It has a fuse built into it for added protection. Also You might want to try plugging in just 1 blade to see if it works. I can't see any reason why a 500W PSU would have any problem running a S1 but you never know. Just make sure its the blade with the little controller board on it. |

I would really, really, really advise against putting 420W through a single 12V cable strand. Those cables simply aren't designed for that current.

Well, paperclip went well. Problem is, I can't access the antminer.
I first tried bridging the network on my laptop, but that didn't work. Now I tried plugging the ethernet cable directly into my router, but I still can't access that ip...
Someone please help! Thanks!

I used 192.168.1.99, the factory setting shown and supplied on a note card with my ant.
I tried to hit the reset button, but it didn't seem to do anything.

I use these too and they do not have fuses. That ceramic bit has a resistor in it to simulate 3.3v load. |

You using Windows  If so,open CMD & type ipconfig & hit enter,hit your prnt scrn button,now open paint & paste & save & host the pic on photobucket or imgr. That will let us see your IP,we'll go from there  Like this :  |

On some laptops you have to make sure Wi-fi is turned OFF, then manually set you network router as described here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.0personally, I would not bother with wifi. However, if you need to connect through wifi, then it is better to do it either through wireless router (netgear) or an Airport express (Mac). If you expand your wireless network with Netgear or express, then you can connect your miner directly to wifi router by ethernet cable. |
