So I'm trying to play some games and mine at the same time on my 7970, currently using -v 1 -w 256 -f 60 But my main issue is that its causing a huge drop in mining speed. (a much larger drop than what I used to see on my 6850. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tried using CGMiner with dynamic efficiency? I'm not sure why the 7ks would take a larger hit than the 6ks, unless it has to do with how GCN splits up work.

I got it worked out, switched miners to diablo and updated a few things and the speeds picked up.
