This mandatory hard fork release corrects a problem which allowed a recent block to enter the chain data store despite a missing transaction.
Also contains additional bug fixes from Monero (credit moneromooo and warptangent)

Hi, all

Unfortunately I still see a problem with the data store. It looks like there is going to need to be another fix which may or may not invalidate blocks. I don't know yet and I'm on a plane right now so I can't analyze it right away.

Will follow up soon.

EDIT:

preliminary analysis does not show a problem but i will be doing some further tests. for now i believe the new release and data store or are okay. that is not a guarantee, just my best opinion

Hello guys, I believe you are experts here so can you help me answer some questions? Smiley
1, In what category is the coin first? In what category Aeon promotes itself?
Crytonote
Quote
2, What new features Aeon brings? How is it unique?
It has some differences to XMR.
Quote
3, Are promises kept by devs?
Yes, though the dev/s don't make any silly ones
Quote
4, Are features on roadmap delivered regularly?
It seems to be a slow and steady progress.

I like this coin because
1.Slowly and surely the community is growing, and more people are contributing. It is becoming a community project
2.There isn't too much hype, but things are happening
3.The launch was fair. No premine. No ICO. Just POW.
4.The lead developer is a Monero core dev. He has a good reputation and is a steady character imho.
5.The lead developer has set aside a fund for future development (or to help the project or community). Some of this was donations from the community.
6.It already has a wallet at Poloniex, as it traded there a while ago

After some more investigation I don't see any problem. I was misreading the output of one of the daemon commands. Sorry for the false alarm. I'll continue to keep an eye on things but at this moment it looks like everything is working correctly.

Also, everyone please take note. Blocks are being solved very slowly (approximately 1 block/hour) until more of the hash rate is upgraded and/or the difficulty adjusts. The latter will start to happen within the next few blocks, so it shouldn't take too long

Blocks seems being solved very fast now as the adjustment did it job. It's very good time for our miners and my mine (http://aeon.sumominer.com) surprisingly has around 80% hash power as many still running on "classic" blockchain LOL.

I hope there will be no more serious problems though still curious why the invalid block was able to pass validations at some blockchains while not at others at first place?

What block should we be on now with update? Wallet sync suggests 799518 is top block but other pools are in the 798xxx. Am saving current wallet sync at this time and cannot look. How to confirm chain is correctly synced with 0.9.8.0 update?

Latest block right now:

id:     <97a757763c94daf9f1d8d62c58735e04cd49bfeb44332935c895f616e73ea90c>
PoW:    <179aedc26e5566e49a365e3d2b4761dc7d41a83e3b8d5f2e63ebdae407000000>
HEIGHT 798833, difficulty:      82866055
block reward: 18.193170674478(18.193170674478 + 0.000000000000), coinbase_blob_size: 250, cumulative size: 250, 14(0/14)ms

If your wallet sync is showing 799xxx that means you are connecting the wallet to an unmatched node or you need to do a wallet rescan (move wallet.bin out of the way and restart simplewallet with just the .keys file present)
