Looking for a technical opinion or fact for that matter:

When pool mining is it better to specify a static difficulty within a range of your known capabilities, or to let the pool adjust difficulty.

I have been under the impression that , for the sake of share submission, a rate of 1 (yay!) every 15-30 secs is good, to keep low diff share submissions to a minimum (pool flooding) while contending for a good number of shares for your portion of the reward when a block is found by a member of that pool.

However, if you have no need to compete for share quantity, like a private pool, would it be better to allow auto adjustment of difficulty by the pool software in the interest of solving higher difficulties with a higher probability of finding a block?

What effect does the difficulty adjustment time and pool timeouts have on time between submissions (guesses at block answer)?

I suppose, to summarize the question what I'm asking would be: Does setting a static difficulty reduce the possibility or "power" to solve blocks?

I just posted this on the github issue and I'm continuing to work on identifying and correcting the root cause of the problem.

Hello all. Looks like the problem may not yet be completely solved. I've added some additional sanity checks to my development version of the code which tripped possibly indicating more closely the source of the issue and I'm working to resolve it. At this point I can only advise to be careful and await further announcements.

EDIT: edited to clarify that the suspicious output does not necessarily indicate a problem. It is still being investigated.

You can keep syncing. The problem that I thought I saw was actually an unupgraded node that was aggressively hitting my own node and didn't get banned. I fixed the missing ban case added some extra checks in my development version that I will push soon but what is released now is still okay to use for syncing (next update won't require a resync).

As far as the roadmap, lets get past the current issues and then come back to it.

There is nothing to worry about. It should not take long from now as everything is ok after the latest update.

Another thing I would like to know is how many nodes are running in Aeon. I would like to set one up and running if needed. It is the least I can do for the project.

So I mined from 2 different pools about 2 days ago... I was paid around 1.7 aeon in total, but after syncing my wallet I have a 0 balance. Is this because the coin/token is under maintenance? Or am I getting screwed by 2 aeon pools?
